I threw out our box of toothpicks just last week. I usually like Uma Thurman and I always enjoyed "Poison Ivy" but this movie BLOW WHALE CHUNKS. "You get the ice, I will get the Iceman." That's not a script, that's a stand up bit from Shecky Greene!

Yeah, Mr. Freeze was one of my favorites from the animated series. Just pathetic.

'The Dark Knight' is the new box office opening weekend champ...

Dark Knight debuts #1 and smashes records on the way...

The Dark Knight debuted #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $155.3 million! The film also had a massive per theater average with $35,579 per theater. The film set all kinds of records including the biggest one -- biggest opening weekend ever! The previous record was $151.1 million set by Spider-Man 3. The film also broke records for biggest midnight opening ($18.4 million, beating Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith) and biggest single day/opening day ($67.8 million, beating Spider-Man 3). The film did $67.8 million on Friday, $48 million on Saturday (second biggest Saturday ever), and $39.4 million on Sunday. The film had a $180 million budget and should soar past that in the next few days.

That's pretty crazy, because I think just last week they were "only" projecting 120-130 million.

The movie was great and all, but I would be more impressed if they could tell me how many more people saw the The Dark Knight than Star Wars, Episode III. Ticket prices are not fixed and tend to go up every year, so these records don't mean a whole lot to me, unless I'm seeing some of the revenue.

I initially confused this movie with the Martin Lawrence classic:

Bingo. And the Joker isnt dead either. Of course what are they gonna do about that, being without Ledger and all. I am looking forward to the next one, but I will watch this one about 400 times before thinking about that

That's the worst part of all this. They left the Joker alive, but you can't bring him back anytime soon because of Ledger. I doubt any actor would touch that roll now because no one could do it justice. I vote for Catwoman, but if you have her you have to have another villain as well. Are there any dark villains left from the comics that haven't been used in movies or cartoons?

Probably one of the top 5 or 10 best movies ever ... but I do have to say that his role as the joker may be the best acting performance ever
Good picture, but ... you really need to watch more movies. I'd have a hard time putting this film in my top 500. Ledger should probably win an Oscar, but "best acting perfromance ever"? No....

Ledger's Joker made Nicholson's look like he was straight outta Sesame Street.
That I'd agree with.

This has to be the best "super-hero" movie ever made IMO
Agreed. But certainly not a "top 5 or 10 best" (see above).

.....The only thing that I was 50-50 about was the casting of Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart for their respective roles.

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent played well. The transition into Two-Face? Eh, not so well. I don't think it was Eckhart's fault. He's an awesome actor and did what he could with it. The writing just sucked IMO ... The Two-Face plot just left me kind of, I don't know, blah and unsatisfied.
Maggie damn near ruined the movie for me - she couldn't pull off either aspect of her role: high-powered attorney or love interest.

Eckhart's a real pro (In the Company of Men; Nurse Betty, to name two excellent roles). The Two-Face bit was awkward, and should probably have been cut - it just added extra length to an already over-long movie.

Ledger lived up to the billing. I think there's a lot of hyperbole going around about his performance. It truly was a dark, creepy, and surprisingly witty performance. Possibly even Oscar-worthy. But I think I was only blown away because I didn't think Ledgar had it in him.
Dead on.

Yes, this is one of the best super-hero movies ever made. That being said, I don't think anything in it deserves to go down in cinematic history as best of all time. This batman series was billed as trying to be a less far-fetched, with batman being very human, but some of the stunts and things he does go off the deep end. It's nothing so bad to ruin the movie, but it's out there.

I did think it started to drag just a little bit at certain points, too. Never to the point when I begun to wonder if it would ever end, but I felt myself getting a bit antsy.

It's an amazing cast and a very, very good director. Anything but a putrid script and they could have churned out something watchable but it's pretty brilliant. Heath Ledger carries the movie and certainly steals the show from Bale's Batman. This is a pretty good legacy to leave behind for Ledger.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, this is a very accurate review, IMHO - can't disagree on a single point.

I think Catwoman will be in the next flick, if you caught where Bale and Lucius Fox were talking about the revamped suit, Bale asked, "How about dogs?" and Fox replied with something along the lines of "It'll hold up against cats"

Again not the exact line, but I feel it was a bit of foreshadowing.
