Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Propaganda warning for @matcar

For the rest..too many coincidences between the timing of the Brown/Powers/Patterson meeting and Saban signing or agreeing to sign his extension that had been sitting on his desk. Many are convinced this is an all out war between Billionaires:

Stole this shamelessly from shags, I can't remember in what thread someone did a paywall post of the entire Chip Brown explaination. Not sure if thats allowed, if i find it i'll link it .

@ORD_Buckeye this [Mark May] is nuts, regents/boosters/governor/billionaires... its fucking "Dallas" played out in Austin

Whether Mack leaves this year or next, what A-list candidate is going to walk into this shitstorm? You're going to have one group of boosters hating you because you're not Mack and the other hating you because you're not Saban.

And jesus, how dysfunctional is it that the "cigars" are even involved in the process at all. I really have to reconsider whether Texas would fit in at all in the Big Ten. They may be Big Ten academically, but they're certainly SEC athletically.

"Some names with West Point ties include Ohio State co-offensive coordinator Ed Warinner"

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... please take one of our other Coordinators.
I posted this in his thread but he has ties to Army
Don't be surprised if Army takes a hard look at Ohio State co-offensive coordinator/offensive line Ed Warinner, who was an Army assistant from 1987-99, working his way up from centers/guards coach to offensive coordinator. He also coached at Air Force. Offensive line was a strength for Ohio State.
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...daily-why-texas-should-give-mike-gundy-a-look and from the same article noise about BG
Bowling Green could shake the Ohio State tree (RBs coach Stan Drayton). Florida DC D.J. Durkin has been a popular name. Don't be surprised if Nebraska OC Tim Beck is in the mix.

If that was to happen, it'd be interesting to see how much gusto Chucky has for recruiting after 5 years in a cushy announce booth.

But, yeah...we'll see. He has literally been mentioned in every major search the last 3-4 years.

If Gruden had the energy to recruit he would be an absolute beast IMO. I can't think of anyone who has played his cards better the last 5-10 years than him. Absence DOES make the heart grow fonder. All the while working a cushy job in the announcer booth? Nice work John. Real nice.

Gruden is a Monet, looks great from far away but up close shit is all over the place. Chucky hire would look good on paper and make a splash, but I don't see it working out great. Chucky struggled to find a QB as well as in many other areas when being able to work with guys for many more hours than the NCAA allows.

Maybe, but at a Top 10 BCS school he wouldn't have to deal with a salary cap and being handcuffed by Tony Dungy leaving 70% of the payroll to the defensive front seven to the point he's dumpster diving QBs and WRs from other teams practice squads after the well has run dry. He did well enough in Oakland too long before the wheels fell off in Tampa Bay.

In any event, I love picturing the thought of him in a 17 year olds living room asking some pimple faced high school junior about Spider 3 Y Banana.

OL coach Greg Studrawa, LSU part ways

greg-studrawa.jpg

The offseason of change on coaching staffs across the country continues, with LSU the latest to “adjust” its personnel heading into the recruiting homestretch.

The Tigers announced via release Wednesday that offensive line coach Greg Studrawa has decided to leave the football program in order to “pursue other opportunities.” What those other opportunities are were not detailed.

Entire article: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/08/ol-coach-greg-studrawa-lsu-part-ways/

Wasn't it just 2 years ago he was thought to be a candidate for the OC position here?
