The hit machine: Mejia, 21, is hitting .368, showing the step up from Class A is not a huge obstacle for him. He already has a team-leading 14 hits with half of those being doubles. He hit .342 last season splitting time between Lake County and Lynchburg, so the start this season is no surprise for the undrafted free agent (2012) from the Dominican Republic.

Mejia's .342 average in 2016 included the 50-game hitting streak that began in Lake County and ended in Lynchburg. Picking up where he left off, Mejia has started this season with an 11-game hitting streak.
While that is a nice average,, you have to consider the of handling pitchers by Gomes @AKAK

Have to go see my eye doctor may be Yan needs to see her also:grin:

Yeah, I mean, I have no doubt the kid can hit. I just have a hard time with the idea that they'd go into the postseason with a rookie catcher handling the staff. I really thought Perez was the unsung hero of the playoffs, he was that good behind the plate, and Gomes can handle himself back there too, I think they'll wait till the last minute to decide. Honestly, if Gomes can get his happy ass over the Mendoza line and look somewhat non-lost and hit a dinger once in a while, I think they stick.

Cookie has been skrong so far. Beautiful outing. If he and Kluber can be a dominant 1-2, Salazar looks like a solid 3...Just need to figure out if Bauer and Tomlin can man the back of the rotation. I have more confidence in Bauer just because his stuff can be electric, but he'll always be prone to a clunker. Clevinger is looking really good in C-bus.

Still shitty.
