Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

I would have no problem with fat charlie coming on as an OC. He's an arrogant ass and an incompitent boob as a HC, but you can't argue with his track record with developing QBs.

Agreed. You know he'd have to be interested in helping out Quinn. And he has no chance of getting a head coaching gig in the league.

The Browns will have to dispatch Mangina though to do it... which makes the move even better.

Even better, if Weis spends enough time in the Cleveland area the land might sink low enough that my house will be lakefront property. Better start building some dikes around the stadium.

ESPN reports Mike Holmgren says he'd be interested in coaching the Browns. I think they'd be wise to talk to him.
I don't know if you read (link) this or heard it on ESPN but I can't believe that Holmgren would only want to coach the Browns. While he would make an excellent coach, he failed miserably in Seattle when he was the HC, GM, and president. I want Lerner to hire someone to head up the football operations before he makes any more football decisions. If Holmgren comes in as Director of Football Operations, I am fine with that but I don't want him having multiple responsibilities like he did in Seattle.

I'd hardly say he failed miserably. He turned around that franchise around, took them to 5 straight playoff appearances (6 overall in 10 years), including a SB (in which they were jobbed by the officials) and won five division titles. He did very well up there. Sure, they were in the toilet when he left, but that was more to do with the team getting old than his mismanagement IMO.

Anyway, everything I've read is that he's interested in a FO position...not coaching.

Congratulations Cleveland Browns! At last, the fruits of your three plus years of laboring have been realized. While we all know you fought hard the last couple years, it wasn't until the great Eric Man-genius was brought on as head coach that you were able to prevail, where you before fell short. It wasn't easy fighting to be the worst team in the NFL, but you guys went to Detroit and ripped that title from the Lions in true Browns fashion. Some may claim they are the worst of the worst, but just remember Browns, you proved it!

This could be a huge beginning. The Browns signed Matt Roth off of the waiver wire. He was waived from Miami and is not a former New York Jet. He is the former LB from Iowa who was a second-round draft choice.

Well Roth did play at Iowa, and he was a teammate of Shonn Greene's there, and since Greene is a Jet....A case could be made that Roth is a Jet by association, and somehow can be linked to Kevin Bacon through all of this.
