Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Rodgers and Suh in a 4-3 would be a nightmare. Even if you didnt have the pass rush from the DE's, who in the hell do you double team? And with Rodgers not being an every down NT I'd still be comfortable having Suh up front.

I too do not appreciate our 3-4. Nor many for that matter (save Baltimore, Pittspuke and to a degree Dallas) The front wouldn't concern me so much if we went to a 4-3, its the linebackers that would worry me.

That said, if we pick up Suh I"m all for a 4-3.

Suh, and Coleman since Berry will be gone.

RB HAS to be addressed, and I would like a home-run threat. = Spiller

The only question is where does that leave room for a RT?

Don't think Coleman would be a good pick for where the Browns will be in the first round. Love the dude, he's my favorite current Buckeye, but top 5 is way too high for him.

If they get him later in the first round, or second, awesome.

I'm not saying Coleman in a top 5 at all bud.

I'm saying Suh for our #1, then maybe Coleman as our priority 2nd rounder and maybe trade back up for a RB.
Sorry if there was some confusion on my part.

I love Coleman too, but no I wouldn't be giving him #1 type money.

Ah, all good then.

For a minute I was very disappointed at the amount of homerism.

I could easily get behind that. I like the pick regardless, b/c you know we're going to be getting a new coach in the next 2 years anyways. So even if Mangini drops the ball, hopefully the next guy figures it out.

That's funny. You assumed the next guy isn't going to be another former New England defensive coordinator.

Spiller and James Davis in the same backfield again? It could work. But I dont want to be drafting Spiller anywhere in the Top 5.
Eh, I'm not sold on Davis either. He looked good in the preseason against the Lions. Some team will leap at Spiller in the mid-late round one. Question is, is he a Reggie Bush, or he a better complimentary player like a Felix Jones? I doubt he's a feature back.

There are no Adrian Petersons in this class.. so drafting a RB so high would be unwise. There is some very good defensive talent, especially on the line. I figure that's what the Browns will do.

Some good WRs too.

This team needs some playmakers period. The lines are what win games, so Suh is my preferred choice with the first pick followed by a close second of Eric Berry because he simply makes play all over the field. Depending on which of those guys the Browns would presumably go with, I like Kurt Coleman in 2nd or 3rd round. I wonder if Toby Gerhart will make it into the 2nd round because he would be a great fit in Cleveland. The Browns need to find a RT tackle too. Lets be honest their are more holes on this Browns team then swiss cheese. So hopefully with 11 picks in next years draft, they can find a real GM and Coach that can actually do something with those picks. Plus, Brady Quinn needs to continue to show improvement because I do not want to see the Browns take a QB with the their first pick this year.
I would say the top needs for this team would be:
1. Safety
2. Pass Rushing linebacker
3. Defensive Lineman
4. Right Tackle
5. Running Back

I suspect that Chris Johnson is making C.J. Spiller a lot of money right now. I'm not saying that he's of that caliber, but some NFL team will call his name early in the hopes that he will be.

Ryan Matthews? (Fresno St)

I like Spiller because of his versatility. I do believe he has the vision and strength to run between the tackles. He might need to add a few pounds in the league, but he's explosive with the ball in his hands.

Picturing kickoffs or punts. Cribbs and Spiller. Who in the hell do you bother kicking too?

He's versatile, and explosive coming out of the backfield. I just have this feeling he'll produce a bit more than Bush as a true RB, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't get a great offensive weapon to have.

edit: I agree with Billmac though; there doesn't appear to be a franchise RB in this draft (yet Johnson sure became that) but there's very good depth and some possible mid to late round steals.

Hell I'd take two late round RB's at this point.
