Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Then we'd be without Joe Thomas. I'm fine with that decision.

Agreed. This team needs more Joe Thomases. A lot of teams around the league run the ball effectively without anybody near Adrian Peterson's ability. Very few teams if any run the ball effectively with a shitty O-line.

Why exactly is that? He's been our best lineman, had an outstanding rookie season yet his performance has been overshadowed by the rest of the "line"
Gotta start somewhere. They call 'em cornerstone tackles for a reason. What do you think Peterson would be doing here right now running behind a line w/o Thomas?

???

Wow, did I mis-understand your post?

I took it as you would have been willing to take AP over Thomas.

I'll just go ahead and assume you meant the other way around, in which case I can understand why you mis interpreted my post.

Damn this Browns thread, I can't even understand my own people anymore with all the losing!!!!

I'l like to see another dominating offensive lineman taken early in the draft this year, or made a trade for one. It all starts with your offensive line, with a good line you take pressure off the QB and you open holes for the running game.

After a lineman, I'd like to see a couple playmakers. A possession receiver and a good RB would be a start, but even Harrison or Cribbs in the Wildcat would be more effective with a better line. Maybe that possession receiver and an effective TE like we had with Winslow in '07. Either way, need to keep the offensve producing.

Pickup a couple more defensive players and it would do the team a world of good, win a few more games and get some confidance again. Maybe they take Suh with their first pick, causing an evil rush with Rogers. Then maybe the TE out of AZ in Rnd 2, or pick up that O-lineman there and get the TE later. The receiver could come later or be traded for probably. I know the secondary could use some help, but the rush would make things a lot easier on them too.

Drafting another lineman that high would wrap up an near absurb amount of money in our O-line. Its that simple. If they wanna draft that high? By all means go ahead.

I'd still like either Suh or Berry as our first pick. Which ever one we pickwill most likely dictate how the rest of our draft goes.

We don't need ANY possession recievers. We have a roster full of them. We need either a 1a type burner (again, like I said, Steve Smith) or a True #1 reciever.

On top of the fact we still have to address the QB position. DA is DOA (bad pun, bad pun) and Brady isn't the answer, not even short team IMHO.

A RB I agree with you on though, Harrison, Davis, Jennings + another solid contributor would be a good place to start.

A lot depends on where we end up. If we do end up #1 overall (I wouldn't be surprised to see them fuck it up and win a meaningless game or two, it has to be Suh. There's a lot of bad teams this year though. 3 wins could have you picking #4 or 5. If that's the case, grab Berry.

One thing to think about is that there is outstanding defensive line depth in the draft this year. If Suh is either off the board or too expensive, they can go with McCoy from Oklahoma, Hughes from TCU, Dunlap from Florida, or maybe even a Buckeye if the time is right.

With that in mind, they do have the luxury of taking an Eric Berry, or a gamechanger at linebacker...etc

Just looked at the draft player rankings...and there are plenty of defensive lineman that are going to be available. Suh is a gamechanger, though.

Defensive End:
Greg Hardy (Ole Miss)
Carlos Dunlap (Florida)
Derrick Morgan (Georgia Tech)
Brandon Graham (scUM)
Corey Wootton (Northwestern)
Eric Norwood (South Carolina)
Sergio Kindle (Texas)
Jerry Hughes (TCU)
O'Brien Schofield (Wisky)
George Selvie (South Florida)
Thadeus Gibson (possibly)

Defensive Tackle:
Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska)
Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma)
Terrance Cody (Alabama)
Jared Odrick (PSU)
Cam Heyward (possibly)

Those are listed in no particular order. The depth of this class is sickening really. Those are just the headline guys, there are plenty of under the radar guys as well.
