Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

I assume you know Gruden has Cleveland roots... his Dad graduated from Orange HS

Yes.

Listening to him call the Browns game on MNF... He gets it. He knows what football means to Ohio at every level. He shares that, and he has the skill and experience to back it up too.

He and Jaws (Youngstown) both got it...you could tell it pained them both to see the state of Cleveland football for themselves.

Browns would give LeBron a shot, if he's serious - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN

Article; said:
BEREA, Ohio (AP) - If LeBron James truly believes he can help the Cleveland Browns, coach Eric Mangini has an orange helmet waiting for him.
"I think he should come on down," Mangini said.

The NBA superstar, who was an All-State wide receiver in high school, said Tuesday night that if he put the time and commitment into it, he could be a good football player. Mangini agreed, calling James "a freak athletically" and said the 6-foot-8, 260-pounder could be dangerous at tight end, wide receiver or even outside linebacker.
Quarterback Brady Quinn also heard about James' football fetish. He would love to have a target to throw to like James in the red zone.
"That'd be great," Quinn said. "Tell him to suit up and let us know, we'll get him working. Obviously he's an incredibly talented athlete. If he wants to try to play a little bit now, we'd be more than willing to pick him up."
Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers isn't convinced James, as great as he is, could step into the NFL and be able to handle the pounding.
"I heard that comment," Rogers said. "I have mixed emotions about that. A great athlete? Yes. A football player? No."
Rogers then looked into TV cameras.
"Yeah LeBron, I said it," he said. "It's a punishing game. I just don't think you can step off the basketball court after not going through this year in and year out and just play football. From that standpoint, I just don't think it's possible. You have to weather and condition your body to take this punishment."
So what if James had a year to train? Could he do it then? "Yeah, he might make a heckuva tight end," Rogers said. "I'd like to see him out there running down the seam."

I'm not a browns fan, but I just found this and thought I would post it.

Quinn fined $10K for Suggs hit

LadyQuinn is a Dbag

Brady Quinn of Cleveland Browns fined by NFL for hit on Terrell Suggs of Baltimore Ravens - ESPN

Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has been fined by the NFL for his chop-block on Baltimore's Terrell Suggs

Quinn, who said he received a letter from the league on Wednesday, would not disclose the size of the fine, but a league source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter the amount is $10,000.

A league source tells ESPN's Michael Smith that an MRI exam showed Suggs suffered a severe MCL sprain in his right knee from Quinn's block on Monday night. There is no definitive timetable for Suggs' return, but he is expected to miss at least the next couple of weeks, the source said.
Suggs' agent, Gary Wichard, told the Carroll County Times he fears his client could miss the rest of the season.

Quinn insists he was not trying to hurt Suggs and has apologized to him and the Ravens. He understands why the Ravens were mad and can appreciate them questioning his intentions.

"I can see why they'd be upset," he said. "But again, he wasn't even in my vision. I was trying to get to the ball. He cut across my face as I was already try to jump down for the tackle."

The Ravens were fuming over the hit. Quinn threw the chop-block at Suggs after an interception in the third quarter, rolling into his right knee.

I may or may not have laughed if Suggs was hurt worse.

I [censored]ing hate that guy. He's pouting in the media right now. You're a defensive player for the Ravens, you hypocrite.

When I first watched the game, it looked like Brady took him out, but I didn't see where Brady was in relation to the ball carrier. There was a lot of traffic in the area. It doesn't make sense for Brady to take out Suggs if he wasn't trying to bring the ball carrier down. Suggs was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was amusing they fined Quinn, but the fines this year are ticky tacky at best. I thought the fine on Ochocinco for the joking replay bribe was a little exagerated as well.

What I find most humorous about this situation is that I can recall Suggs hitting players low and injuring them on multiple occasions. He was the guy who injured Roethlisberger a few years back and kept Ben out a a game or three. I was at the game and it happened right in front of me - it was dirtier than what Quinn did.

(Had free tickets to the game, that's what I was at a Ravens/Steelers game )

So yeah, I have little to no respect for this guy after his pouting.

Lerner is just waiting for ND to fire the Weis so he can hire him. He probably figures that the o-side of the Belichick tree is better than what he's gotten with the D-side. Only a matter of time before they are making a Bud Light Real Men of Genius commercial about the Browns.

ESPN reports Mike Holmgren says he'd be interested in coaching the Browns. I think they'd be wise to talk to him.
This would be a start, though I thought he was talking about a FO position (Director of football operations).

I would have no problem with fat charlie coming on as an OC. He's an arrogant ass and an incompitent boob as a HC, but you can't argue with his track record with developing QBs.

I see that Mangini is crying in the press about the Lions faking injuries in Sunday's game. Here's an idea dickhead, shut up. You lost to the fucking Lions. Quitcher cryin'. :sob:
