Buckeye Offensive Coordinator Discussion (merged)

someone on 1460 mocked the TOP stat, saying that when your defense is tops in 3 and outs, you are probably going to have the ball an awful long time. We don't have the highest TOP b/c we have the ball the most as much as b/c tressel calls runs until he is blue in the face.

TOP is great when you have a lead. But it doesn't do us much good vs PSU.

If your ratio is...highest TOP over lowest scoring avg...you have the most chances and produce the fewest results...the last time I checked, the purpose of the offense was to score points.

OK, I'll say this one final thing and be done.

Our defense has been stellar for the last several years. JT has admittedly had a hands off approach with the defense. Maybe he should give the offensive controls over to some young offensive mind and see how it works.

It's just ike running a company. The president isn't on the front lines doing the grunt work. Maybe it would be best for the team if JT focussed on managing the Buckeye Machine and let his people do what they do. I know he doesn't want to give up control, but he could bring in a young guy, tell him his philosophy on Tressel-ball, then let the new guy spice it up.

I guess what I'm saying is that maybe JT has too many irons in the fire to make sure that they are all hot.

A big part of our disappointment was caused by JT , his self saying,"we should be explosive!" That raised everyone's expectations. Obviously, Tress sees under performance, and is frustrated also.

What is the answer? Or who is the answer?

If you want to believe my wife, we have the wrong QB?

I'm starting to believe she's right! God, help me!

maybe it is not fair to compare what other teams have done against common opponents but here goes....points put up against penn st so far this year. south florida (13), cincinnati (24), northwestern (29), minnesota (14) OSU (10). except for central michigan EVERYBODY scored more points against psu than we did and i know that their defense was probably a little jacked up for that game :) but come on. is our offense seriously worse than all of these teams. the numbers would seem to indicate that and thats what sticks in my gut. how in gods name can our defense be so good and our offense be so miserable. it just shouldnt be possible :(

Hey go check out my Tresselball breakdown thread and you will see why all this happened.

Also rememeber, they were also more jacked up for us, it was like their little superbowl to put them back on the map, the crowd was insanely crazy, we played like shit, they played an almost perfect game, we lost our starting right tackle early in the game, and the field was wet.

I know you may think that these are a bunch of excuses, but even with the bad game we still had a chance to win, even down till the last drive when we fumbled.

Columbus, OH - Football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field.

Head coach Tressel immediately suspended practice while police investigators were called to investigate.

After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line.

Practice was resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.
