90% of 150 million is what 60 teams are splitting now. Because they have created a 2 tier system they have a huge recruiting advantage. No matter how many games a team like BSU can win Ohio State can always point to the auto-bid and the huge conference advantages in bowl bids.
If they go to a playoff that recruiting advantage is gone. Which means Big 10 schools like Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue would all disapear as power football programs. Without the recruiting advantage these schools would be fighting it out with Utah state and SJSU for crumbs.
Immiediatley Ohio State would be competitng with BSU for 5 star athletes because in a playoff they don't have the BCS advantage.
Then when you consider the 300 to 400 million dollars a playoff creates would be distributed based on a programs success. It would be likely very quickley that teams like Houston, BSU, Utah, Troy, Fresno ect.... would all be bringing in money equal to Ohio State out of these playoffs and recruiting at the same level as well.
So Ohio State and there buddies can keep 90% of 150 million. Or they can start a playoff have to compete fairly with 120 schools and split 350- 400 million possibly equally. When you consider the loss in prestige that would occur cutting into apparal sales and Big 10 regular season TV contracts a playoff might only be more money for the current have nots.
They are scared of competing fairly.
