Boise State in the NC game?

FerrariEnzo

Packin' Heat
Boise State is playing Oregon State and Virginia Tech this year. OSU is visiting the Broncos(pretty sure) and they play VT at Fedex field.

Oregon State does not impress me and VT has A LOT of holes to fill... assuming the Broncos take care of in conference play which I assume they will and win both games which I think is fairly likely...

Do they get into the NC game if:

There are two, one loss BCS AQ teams...

Multiple un-defeateds (3 or more including BSU)...

Two un-defeated teams including BSU but with a strong one-loss SEC, B10, B12, Pac10 champ?

What do you guys think?

I think if they are un-defeated they HAVE to get the nod in any scenario so the BCS can avoid inviting congress.

It would be ideal if Alabama or whatever SEC team gets tripped up and Ohio State can take care of business...

The BCS which wants/needs a strong B10 can match tOSU against BSU to silence the mob and at the same time provide the Bucks with or 2ng NC in 10 years...

This is not to discount BSU, they are upping the talent level and they are VERY WELL coached.

Around these parts, "OSU" means Ohio State. I don't care if you just wrote Oregon State in the previous sentence or not.

If Butler can play Duke for the Basketball Championship, why couldn't Boise play for the BCS?

The only way that's even remotely comparable is if Boise beats both VT and Oregon State, VT finishes top 2 in the ACC and Oregon State finishes top 2 in the Pac-10.

Then, despite winning the weak conferences (WAC/Horizon League), they would have both beaten teams that finished 1st or second in their respective "power conferences" on the way to the title game.

...but even then, Butler beat 2 teams that finished top 5 in their conferences. (UNLV [MWC], Michigan State[Big 10]).

Boise could pull that off too...but I doubt it...

If (when) Boise loses this season, it'll be a moot point.

I hate that scenario....absolutely fucking loathe it! If Ohio State gets into the NC game, we NEED to play the SEC champ/USC/Texas. Were we to win a NC by going through Boise State, it would give the haters all the ammo they need for another decade.

Who cares? We would have won the national championship. A title is a title. Doesn't matter who you beat, it's the fact that you beat them. We don't have to get greedy and want to "knock down the big guys".

Why put the SEC on the pedestal that we know they don't deserve?

Why act like USC is as "holier than thou" as the media likes to play them to be?

I somehow doubt that if Boise State is in the championship game the SEC champ, USC, or Texas is going to ALSO be undefeated...and in the world of college football, if you lose and someone else doesn't...they end up above you...simply put...

It's a double edged sword there...

If we win out, go the NCG and play a 1 loss SEC Champ, USC, or Texas and Boise State goes undefeated and wins their bowl game...people moan about the fact that we DIDN'T beat Boise State.

In any scenario, I wouldn't lower the value of a National Title simply because of who we play.

Sure it's all hypothetical...but still...

i think they should consider looking into joining a bcs conference.

Or better yet, create a conference with the following teams and then demand to be a BCS Conference:

Boise State
Utah
BYU
TCU
Nevada
Air Force
Fresno State
Colorado State
Wyoming

Based on the last 5 years, that conference is at least as good as the Big East...probably better.

.

I could be wrong here, but I don't think I am. As a fan, I'd rather see a one-loss Florida, LSU, Bama, USC, Texas, etc. over a team like Boise State. I think it'd be better football, more interesting, and honestly, I still don't buy BSU. I hate trick plays and I think they hide talent deficiencies, and BSU uses way too many of them for my tastes. Many feel this way. Sad thing is, I think BSU has enough talent to be a top 10 team. They're trying to get their schedule to be legit - awesome for them. Make us believers. Get rid of that fucking field too.

A traditional powerhouse vs. traditional powerhouse is going to be win/win for fans and more importantly, the BCS. A gimmicky-field using, trick-play over-using team vs. a traditional powerhouse isn't going to be as popular as OSU vs. USC. Or OSU vs. Texas. Or OSU vs. Florida.

Look at the story lines.. there are many more for the traditional powerhouse games than there are BSU vs. any of them. BSU is at this point where everyone knows they're a good team, but nobody wants to play them for a couple reasons - if they lose to BSU, they just lost to a "mid-major" team, if you will. If you're going to schedule a "real" team, schedule a big one (Texas, USC, etc).

Just my thoughts and I could be wrong. But fuck BSU. I don't want to play them, and not because I'm afraid. I'd just rather watch football without hooks and laterals.
