Oklahoma State and Boise State are just outside the top 8 and yet are just as legit as #7 and #8. There is not much difference between #1 and #10 today, and thus would warrant a 16-team playoff. Even #12 TCU's only loss was at Oklahoma when OU was red-hot. The 16-team format is the tried-and-proven format...

Ok, I'm sold. And I understand there are alot of legistics that dictate how this system could actually come about. Any play-off that could happen, I would favor.

BCS Standings
1. Alabama 9-0
2. Texas Tech 9-0
3. Penn State 9-0
4. Texas 8-1
5. Florida 7-1
6. Oklahoma 8-1
7. USC 7-1
8. Utah 9-0
9. Oklahoma State 8-1
10. Boise State 8-0
11. Ohio State 7-2
12. TCU 9-1
13. Georgia 7-2
14. Missouri 7-2
15. BYU 8-1
16. LSU 6-2

Just look at the great first-round matchups with the current standings:

#1 Alabama vs. #16 LSU
#2 Texas Tech vs. #15 BYU (you don't think there'd be a shitload of passing yardage in that game?)
#3 Penn State vs. #14 Missouri
#4 Texas vs. #13 Georgia
#5 Florida vs. #12 TCU
#6 Oklahoma vs. #11 Ohio State
#7 USC vs. #10 Boise State
#8 Utah vs. #9 Oklahoma State

The Buckeyes are up to #10 in the AP and Coaches polls this week. We'll drop in the computer rankings, but this should keep us about the same in the BCS.

USC and Penn State #6/6 and #7/8 in AP/Coaches polls this week. Michigan State at #15/18 is the only other Big Ten team in the Top 25 of these polls. If Harris Poll follows these, then I suspect we'll hold our current position or maybe even advance one place.

The voters putting Utah and Boise ahead of us are jokes, but that's the respect level of our program at this point. It's bullshit, but if we run the table - including a good bowl win either in the BCS or over an SEC team on New Year's - I think we shut some of that stuff up.

November 9 BCS standings

CBS SportsLine

The above link has the breakdowns of the different polls and computer rating.

1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma
6. USC
7. Utah
8. Penn State
9. Boise State
10 Georgia
11. Ohio State
12. Missouri
13. Oklahoma State
14. Ball State
15. Michigan State

Texas got hosed by the Harris and the Coach's poll who both put them at #5. Everyone else fell pretty much in the BCS as the Harris and Coach's poll had them.

Must be a four point win over a crappy team is better than a 35 point win over a top 25 team at their house......
The computers were not very kind to us. We were ranked #10 in the Harris and Coach's poll while George was #12 so it had to be the computers.

LitlBuck! GIGO. Used to call that 'Garbage In, Garbage Out'. The computers are inanimate objects, it's the programmers, or the ones that tickle the keys that are deciding this stuff......someone is behind those computers :mad1:.......

Seeing the prejudice against Big Ten teams, why would the Big Ten ever agree to a playoff? We would just get screwed by the court of public opinion. Better the Bowl agreements we have now.

what?

isn't the point of a playoff to settle it on the field rather than in the court of public opinion?
