"beatdown"? yes

A win? maybe. Oklahoma is still getting a lot of attention.

I dunno, IMHO I think we rise 4 spots in the BCS past TT no matter what they do this week (possible upset too...they play @Kansas) and of course PSU will drop below us. Depending on what happens this week we could potentially see a move to #5, my predictions are below.

#1 Texas v. Ok St. (I think Texas will roll)
#2 Alabama @ Tenn. (Roll Tide)
#4 Oklahoma @ Kanasas St. (OU wins big I think)
#5 USC @ Arizona (USC will probably win)
#7 Georgia @ LSU (Close game, LSU could help us)

In no way do I think we are going the NCG this year, the odds are just to far against us. Of course with a blow-out some people might entertain the idea of it...I am not one of those people though. I have a feeling we might see the Rose Bowl and USC is going to the MNC.

i was thinking 5th or 6th, then we wait for TTU and OKst to lose. that's when the bias will kill us.

I completely agree...there will be no way we go to the NCG. It will be between OU, Texas and USC for the game this year. We should win the Big T(elev)en outright, again and go to the Rose Bowl and honestly that is nothing short of amazing.

don't sleep on UCLA taking out USC.

if we really start to roll people, the national opinion can change quickly. the media are like lemmings, and they love teams that score.

I was listening to a guy on the radio that said if USC ends up being #2 in the coaches/harris polls.....whoever is #3, even OSU, would have a distinct possibility of jumping USC b/c there schedule is THAT bad. He said it mostly depends on how close it is between the #2 and #3 teams in terms of points.

The problem for OSU, is every game they win, they strengthen USC's schedule. Ohio States schedule is actually shaping up to be a positive for us.

It will be very interesting to see where OSU jumps to if they beat PSU. PSU is getting TONS of media love, I almost wonder if a close win would be more advantageous. It sounds cooky, but if we blast PSU, Ohio State will lose credit b/c the media will say PSU was vastly overrated and hadn't played anyone yet. Also, blasting PSU drops them much further in the polls, hurting our strength of schedule at the end of the year.

But don't get me wrong....I'll take any win. Saturday night is shaping up to be a great game.

If we jump USC, I will be pissed on behalf of USC fans. I would love to play for another title, but if there's one team that we shouldn't jump, it's USC. If there's a definite title team, and then us and USC, USC had better get the bid.

No offense, fellow Buckeye fans.

I agree as well....but this is the system everyone has agreed to.

USC will have played 1 ranked team for the entire season, and the 1 ranked team they played was without their best RB, and wasn't using their best QB in hind-sight.

I think USC is in some trouble in the event they are #2 when stacked up to whoever is #3.

Well, not me. :tongue2:

I know what you're saying, and won't have a problem with it unless we're #3 in that situation. Sad that I'd have a problem with us getting to the title game in ANY situation, but this is a weird situation. Weird that we got smoked 35-3, and not only have a chance to get back up to #3, but have a chance to jump the team that beat us and get into the title game.

I think this chance is about as close to 0% as you can get, but there's a chance, I suppose.

I hear ya man. The interesing dynamic, is that the computers are going punish USC unlike any elite team in the history of the BCS. The PAC-10 is that awful.

I have a feeling, if OSU were to get to #3, with USC #2, enough voters would probably put OSU at #4 to keep their point differential as far apart as possible. From my understanding, it sounds as if it does make difference how close you are to the team dirrectly in fron tof you. For example, in the coaches poll, you can see how many points each team accumulates.
