Bryce "L" Underwood (QB ttun, for now)

Didn’t seem close to ready for the moment. Almost felt like he tapped out - that or Matty P really had him seeing ghosts.

I wouldn’t even say he took that many hits but he was bailing on drop backs early. Refused to use his legs. We’ve seen far guttier performances from QBs up there.

Perfectly fine with Mich hitching their wagon to him - that’s an expensive problem. He hasn’t improved and based on his off season and in-season development, I certainly question his will to compete or get better.
yeah ok whatever. let's see him vs Sayin at the carnival speed pitch competition. then you'll be singing a different tune.

CB Jermaine Mathews, Jr. (All B1G, National Champion)

I’ve said it all year - Iggy and Matthew’s aren’t the guys you mess with. Those boys are here to wreck your team.

Hope we get another year with Matthews, he brings a lot of fun and energy to the defense. Everyone can’t be the defensive captain and that’s ok, but his contributions is that juice is essential!

B1G CCG BMW Thread: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana

Yuk! Yuk! Am old enough that remember when tOSU v Hoosier game was a toughie, merely because the Hoosiers roster was filled with Ohioans that were not recruited by the Buckeyes. Well, the years have morphed a bunch, and with NIL/portal, anyone can build a roster, and Indiana has done it very well over the last two years. Lindy's had them at #32 pre-season, but apparently they've outplayed that rating. Think it'll be a good game, and as always, will be won in the trenches. Would like to see Mendoza plunked on his keister more than several times. Kinda hard to complete passes from a prone position. And, certainly, would be happy to see tOSU's cobbled together OL keep Sayin's jersey clean. Buckeyes, 35-10.

B1G CCG: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana in Indy, Sat. Dec 6th, 8 ET on FOX

Vegas says it'll be a closer game than mayhaps we'd like. Watched B10 network go down the list, with the 'better' of Indiana and tOSU teams. Was amused, when one picked a team, there was a 'well, it's a very close call'. Amused, and they've probably got some good points, as they watch/comment on every team. Guess we'll see. Both teams are hungry, certainly. Would like this for the team, as well as Ryan Day. Looking at the projected 'big 12' playoff teams, it's going to be a hard slog no matter where the Buckeyes wind up. As for me, I'm all in on Ohio State.

Pittsburgh Steelers (official thread)

Tomlin is horrible - he needs to go, but sadly has 3 years left on his contract so we're stuck in football purgatory for at least that long. Not shitty enough to get a good draft pick, but not good enough to win, stuck with a head coach that has horrible assistants, and washed vets signed.

I"m 100% on the give Will a shot camp - season is lost, nothing to lose, give him a shot

Lane Kiffin (HC LSU)

Because they were never going to win it.
you, me, and everyone else in the world knows that.
they didn't even have to win more than maybe one game (which will likely be at home)

that puts you turning the Calendar to January before he would be "available"
does LSU wait that long for an official ink on paper answer? probably not.

It just might be a perfect match. A school and a coach that both have a knack for failing upward, or at least chaotically stumbling into improved situations.

that's why Les Miles worked so well here for so long.

While winning was the most important thing, I do take comfort in that Day was able to not just win but dominate by running it down their fucking throats for much of the game. That was something that almost everyone here feared him attempting, but he did it. That has to be pretty damned satisfying for him this morning.

The cheating is over. Day has the monkey off his back. Moore sucks, and even if Underachiever does have potential, that staff will fail to develop it. New streak time.

EDIT: And pay Matt Patricia his damned money.
And instead of "I'd like to see where @Jaxbuck is right now" in the post game interview.....he says (essentially): if we had better weather, we would've kicked their ass even harder. But he says it subtly. Like somebody who believes in what he's saying.

LB Alex “Sonny” Styles, Block 'O' (All B1G, All American, National Champion)

Sonny might be my favorite player on this year's team. He's not as natural of a linebacker as Arvell. He does lose his gap integrity every now and then (see UMs first play from scrimmage). He probably won't be as high of draft pick as Arvell either.

But man, this guy's a leader, physical, an absolute missile, and will get in your face about it, over and over. And he's only been playing linebacker for (not even) two full years, I think his long term potential is still being realized, considering he should still technically be in his 3rd year. Get him the right coaching and his pro potential is through the roof.

I can't believe they thought he was a safety, thanks Knowles.

oh I agree.
I even started a thread on our board about the "LSU circus" detailing how horribly this had all been bungled by LSU (and the Governor).

how the hell we ended up with the guy who was on top of this administration (and the majority of the fanbase) list is a fucking mystery.

Put that way, it’s a pretty criminal level of incompetence to be out maneuvered by the LSU administrative powers that be.

I agree with everything except what I bolded. I don't think the cheating is over. They are now guilty until proven innocent, in my court.
They may not be balls deep in the next cheating scheme. But they have a crew working on what it should be.
Cutting power to on field comms?

just sayin’

HC Ryan Day (B1G Coach of Year, B1G Champion, National Champion)

Do you know the insane amount of convincing this must have taken for Day to agree to this…

It’s not in his nature and never was….until this year. It’s been the right call though….

I didn't love it, but I understood the mentality before. If I KNOW that I have more talent than you, and THINK I also have the better scheme than you. I want to run as many plays on offense as possible and create as many situations as possible for the talent and scheme to show. It makes sense and worked most of the time... "shock, awe, overwhelm".

Truly great coaches evolve when their mantra doesn't work anymore. That's what won Saban his last 3 titles at Bama. If you're going to be elite over very long periods you have to be willing to change. More than anything it means that you now have the confidence that, no matter what, you can figure it out again which = staying power at the top level.

Lane Kiffin (HC LSU)

well, most SEC fanbases are currently pissed that we hired him.
which is a good thing.

Lane is going to take all of the heat due to his past. And that is a reputation he has earned on his own, so it is is what it is.

but honestly, Ole Miss screwed this up and nobody seems to be pointing out how badly they managed this.

LSU (and Florida) is who "needed" an answer quick from Lane, not Ole Miss.
But Ole Miss is the school that publicly set a deadline and ultimatum.
and Lane has been pretty clear that he wanted to coach this team throughout the playoff run.
LSU allegedly was OK with that, but Ole Miss dug their heels in the sand and wouldn't even consider it.

Money was allegedly roughly equal.
NIL funds were supposedly very close.

if Ole Miss had sat tight, their odds of keeping him would have skyrocketed.

instead of saying "make your decision right now! you're either here long term or get the fuck out!", they should have taken the "do NOT make a decision now. we know the money is right in line. Stick around and ride this thing out to see what we can accomplish here"

then, the deeper Ole Miss gets, the harder and harder it is for LSU to wait.
and the more and more attractive Ole Miss as a long term residence can look to Lane.

one school was telling him exactly what he wanted to hear.
one school was telling him literally the exact opposite of what he wanted to hear.
Oh well. I'd rather have a rudderless Ole Miss in the CFP. Can't wait to see them play their first round game ....
