If Stein really wants fans to make a statement, he should encourage them to wait outside the stadium with piss balloons for bama fans, players and coaches

I didn't know anyone in NYC or Washington at that time. I had no ties at that time to anyone who might have been directly "in the line of fire". There was no "I hope so-and-so is okay."
But how could they do this to "us"?

I had no real tie to any of the buildings, but when the first tower collapsed, I remember thinking, "Well, at least the other one is still standing." Of course, that was only a thing for another hour or so.

How dare they do this to "us"?

Not to defend these actions, (In fact, I would condemn them now) but I can understand how people soon became hostile to middle easterners for a while.

College football fans have never needed permission to hurl a stream of obscenities at their opponent or sneak contraband into the stadium, but the Kentucky faithful have the green light from coach Will Stein this week.

With No. 12 Alabama coming to Lexington for Saturday's SEC opener, Stein wants to make Kroger Field an inhospitable environment for the Crimson Tide. Speaking with Kentucky Sports Radio, Stein wants the fan base to become the "loudest 65,000 group of people in the history of the world."

If Stein gets his way, parents may want to pack a set of headphones for the children because there might be some four-letter words thrown Alabama's way this weekend. Throw southern hospitality out the window.

"I want them in there 45 to 30 minutes before, in their seat, standing up, screaming obscenities at our opponent, making them feel very unwanted in Kroger Field and creating an environment of excellence for Kentucky football," Stein said. "I mean, that's what it's about. You want to see a great product on the field. I want to see insane fans in the stands as well."

With college football stadiums now serving alcohol, an interesting dynamic was created. Sometimes, there are empty seats scattered throughout the venue as fans seek refills. Stein's solution is simple: Go old-school and sneak booze into Kroger Field.

"Sneak a flask in," Stein said. "Sneak a flask in. Again, do whatever you got to do, right? Get your drinks ready. Sit in your chair, all right, and start cheering. And then once you're done with the drink, go back in as fast as you can, and come right back out."

There's no word yet on whether security measures at Kroger Field will be loosened to accommodate Stein's request.

Stein has certainly brought a renewed energy to the Kentucky program, and that might help him on Saturday. Alabama is the more talented team by a clear margin, but the crowd in Lexington should be amped up for Stein's first game in SEC play.

The early morning of 9/11 I get a call from a dear friend in Akron Ohio
telling me a plane hit the tower... after not believing her.. I turn on the TV
My first thought.. no way.. how in the hell can some dumb ass Piper Cub pilot
not see the towers

Within minutes my day exploded..
frantic calls from a number of buddies from Akron.. Merrill Lynch financial advisors near Wall St
on their way to the tower top floors for a training seminar at Merrill HDQ.. and trapped on the island
another call from a cousin who couldn't locate her son who was scheduled to be near Wall St

Vividly remember my shock when my TV went completely black
Took me a while to digest that our communications all came from equipment that sat atop the towers
but my first reaction was Armageddon tier.. like WTF is happening...

Major irony.. I went out the front door... was a pristine blue very sunny pleasant day...
and from my porch I could see the plumes of smoke..

Game Thread tOSU at Texas, Sat. Sept 12, 7:30 pm ET, ABC

I'm geared up at work today with my Brutus polo and Buckeye socks ready for this one. Dog treats are primed on the counter for Woody so he gets the hook up on every score. Work has been insane all week but I went in at 6 this morning so I can leave early and actually get ready for this one. Can't wait.

End of the day, I think we pull off another tight one. Arch is not the QB we thought he'd be, but Coleman is a big weapon and I don't know that we have a lock down guy that will totally shut him down, but we just need to limit him and Wingo. Sanchez needs to make that big step and be the big lock down 5* CB we brought in to star in our secondary, no way around it. Same for Mathews, but less concerned on him.

Offensively, just protect Julian and get him quick rhythm throws to start. Get Jeremiah and McCuin eating early, with some TEs underneath to open it up. Don't force the big play, we can beat them over 4 quarters.
