2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

Agreed, frankly most of what I listed will never happen, but an expansion to 16 would increase the overall number of games or keep it the same, even with losing the CCs.

But yes, you're entirely right on how it would be divided up. I would also love to see CFB work like the NFL, where the playoffs are distributed amongst the big networks, but again, fantasy land.
Going to 16 increases the number of games for the playoff owner. Getting rid of CCG gets rid of the game for whoever owns those right. Big ten would need to renegotiate their contract with fox/cbs/nbc (they also get half of the CCGs). I don’t think NBC or CBS is happy with the contract right now so that would open a can of worms.

This is all true, but I’m still proud of how our guys finished. They didn’t quit and still had Miami fans nervous as hell in the second half.

Bama got completely ran off the field and embarrassed.

Still hurts, but the Buckeyes never gave up or folded against anyone. They kept swinging.
I don't know, social media says it was a blowout.

Nah more is better. Miami doesn’t get in this year, we don’t get in last year if under the 4 team model.

I don’t like the long wait though from the last game of the year until New Years Eve.

Go to 16 teams but fix the layoff.
oh well, sucks to suck. Win your conference and get invited to the dance. I said this before last year, and still stand by it. Either that or blow it all up, no bowl games and like 32 teams, 2 from each conference (no CCGs) with however many at large it takes to fill it up. If bowl games don't matter anyway, and CCGs already barely matter, just do away with them and use that week for the 1st round. Army Navy needs to move to rivalry week. Navy should have been playing for the whatever conference they're in, anyway. Maybe they get in the playoff instead of Tulane if that game isn't after selection sunday. Lot of stupid shit for "tradition" and a lot of stupid shit that butts head with tradition. Like MIke Ehrmantrout says, "no half measures".

RB CJ Donaldson (Official Thread)

These kids give their all for the team and the university. It always pisses me off when fans think a player has to be from OH or attended OSU for multiple years to have an emotional investment in the program. This kid got to OSU literally a year ago, and he's sobbing like a baby. And the fact that he played against his hometown school nonetheless

2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

Byes are going to have to go away. 7 of 8 isn't a statistical aberration.

And oh yeah, SEC is 0-2 against ooc teams while the B1G is 2-1 and went belt-to-ass in the only head to head match up.

Last year, the B1G was 5-3 against ooc teams, and the sec was as 2-3. Head to head was 2-0 for the B1G.

It looks like the 12 team playoff is finally going to kill the SEC Uber Alles narrative.

Preseason polls still help the usual suspects keep the SEC DOMINANCE narrative going. We all know how this works, a handful of SEC teams get over ranked in preseason, then other SEC teams beat them to become over ranked as well and they all hold up as "quality wins" to ESPN and co at the end of the year even when those teams end up with 4+ losses. It's a never ending predictable cycle.

I'm waiting for the articles about how the SEC got "screwed" having to play games against each other in the 1st round and the quarter finals and how that means these playoff results aren't meaningful. When in reality they should be thankful that they got gifted 1 semi final team by getting to play each other. Ole Miss and UGA both woulda last to any other quarterfinal team outside of Bamas corpse

2026 PA K Jacobo Echeverria (Verbal Offer)

Interesting. Not one of the 27 kickers ranked by 247, but Kicker Training has him as the highest uncommitted kicker. Has a long of 41 yards this season. He does have an unusual name though, which is a bonus for kickers.....

Kickers with names that sound like soccer players are always good.

It's science

Need to "expand" to 8. Too many teams already don't belong, and that would get rid of one team having a longer layoff.

Non-Playoff Bowl Games Discussion Thread

Duke's Mayo Bowl
ESPN
8:00 PM
Wake Forest (8-4) vs Mississippi State (5-7)

In the 2025 college football season, several 5-7 teams declined bowl bids, including Florida State, Auburn, UCF, Baylor, Kansas, Rutgers, and Temple, primarily to focus on player development and the transfer portal, disrupting bowl-filling efforts for games like the Birmingham Bowl. These teams often expected their season to be over and had already moved on, making it difficult to field a team, unlike some bowl-eligible teams that also opted out due to coaching changes or playoff snubs.

Birmingham Bowl: Georgia Southern (now 7-6) 29 defeated Appalachian State (now 5-8) 10.

Just sayin': When 5-7 gets you into a bowl game (needless to say) there are just too many bowl games.
I believe the first game of the day features another 5-7 team (playing a 6-6 team). Rice and Texas State or some such critter?

OSU, IU, and Oregon would have been so sweet. I'll get over it, but very disappointed still in how we played and how the ball bounced on NYE. No cope about bye weeks or anything else, just raw dogging my dissapointment realizing we got our shit shoved in by Miami lol fucking bullshit

Koi Perich (S Minnesota, transfer to Oregon)

I’d think Oregon will be big players for Koi as well….Id love to see us get involved, but agree it will be an expensive acquisition.
He can’t cost more than Downs right? I’d think this is the player where it’s worth it.

Normally I don’t want higher priced guys. But if they’re sure fire starters then you have to make that call.

Just roll over a portion of the money set aside for Downs. Important player here and you’re right Oregon you have to believe will come after him too. Everyone will.

Just have to hope our prior relationship with him and our defensive style for the safety position will entice him. I think it will and I think he’ll likely be paid nicely too.
