BP Fantasy Baseball est. 2008 (Current Champion = Ahiacitian)

so on pitching we go with K/BB instead of K. I'm good.

Hitting-we like OBP and SLG and are you good with the rest or have changes?
No, I was trying to keep it simpler and similar to previous seasons with upping SP value a bit. Here’s mine…

OBP
SLG
HR
RBI
SB
R

ERA
WHIP
Win
Save
Hold
K/BB

I believe the very simple fix to the K problem would be to go from K/9 to K/BB. Shifts the category for the most part from relievers to starters.

I definitely like going from BA and OPS to OBP and SLG. Other than that, I think it starts to get a little too redundant and complicated. And to your earlier point, possibly less entertaining.

Headlines You Don't See Every Day (outside of Florida)

Two thoughts:

Video needs yakkety sax (Benny Hill chase music).

Ohio is lucky that Florida and Oklahoma exist to draw attention from the amount of idiocy that occurs in Ohio.

Ok here is my take on categories:

Offense
1. OBP
2. Slug %
3. HR
4. Extra base hits (rewards the doubles hitters)
5. NET stolen bases (rewards smart base running, not volume bullshit)
6. Runs (one raw counting stat that isn't power)

The optimal lineup is balanced, slightly skewed for power but that is the modern game.

Pitching
1. Quality Starts (wins are crazy bullshit stats, they are like Holds for me-nonsense)
2. Saves + Holds (not each separately)
3. ERA
4. WHIP
5. k/9 (prevents the low leverage middle reliever from dominating via K%)
6. K's (rewards volume K's from starters but the rest of the rules punish you for streaming or dominating with a bunch of middle relievers)

With the 18 IP minimum this really changes the pitching dynamic from the last few years imo. A true K heavy starting ace is now the most valuable piece on the board (pitching wise).

I don't offer this up lightly, it's the exact opposite of what I have wanted to see because it was easy for me to compete with a bunch of bullpen scrubs and focus on hitters (not that it helped my pack of sissies any)

Thoughts?

Ohio Stadium aka THE Horseshoe (Official Thread)

That's funny because I got a reservation for this weekend. My son and I went to the Ohio State - Texas game and we got there SUPER early. (I never know how early to leave or predict the traffic.) The stadium scoreboard had an ad for this. So I got home and looked into it, and made this our Christmas gift to a bunch of the family.
I'm hoping it's as awesome as I want it to be.
