I got to know Dash Crofts and Jimmy Seals when they were at the height of their careers. They were both such genuine, down-to-earth people and willing to help aspiring musicians take their best shot. When I first started playing, I was at a conference in St Louis. Several people started playing an impromptu jam in an open foyer above the interest, it was after all the early 70s. Dash and Jimmy were there (and so were about 30 other, including some of the original Godspell band. It's a long time ago, but some of those guys had done session work with some of the top bands of the late 60s/early 70s. One of the bands that came out of that group of friends was Toto, after England Dan and John Ford Coley collapsed. I don't remember and didn't know everyone. Even if I did, as Crosby said at Woodstock, I was scared sh*tless.

So, eventually, Jimmy asks what I'd like to play. I'd only been playing for a few months and I froze with stage fright. I only found my tongue when Dash caught my eyes and said not to worry because no one would hear me with so many playing anyway. So, I chose their hit, Summer Breeze. As I started, Jimmy said, "Those aren't the right chords,...oh, doesn't matter. Let's all watch and we'll play it your way." And they all played along. I gigged for 5 or 6 years and even got invited to Hollywood as a potential songwriter. I could see people on street corners who almost certainly played guitar better with their toes than I with my hands. When I gave up that dream, I left with the precious gift of not taking myself too seriously. I think I probably became finished business school and became a professor years later because their kindness in that moment cured me of stage fright.
Meant to ask since you're in South Africa, have you ever heard of a rock singer named Rodriguez I heard that he was bigger than Elvis there.

Idk about you guys, but I enjoy watching Buckeye transfers succeed at their new locations. It almost validates to me that the staff evaluated well but just that guy wasn't to level to play and excel at OSU. But I wish nothing but success for them at their next location(as long as its not scUM, or when OSU plays them)

Caleb Williams (Cry Baby, Painter of Nails)

Gervin irked Bears' Williams filed trademark for 'Iceman'

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams' attempt to trademark the moniker "Iceman" is facing scrutiny from a legendary NBA player who shares the same nickname.

George Gervin, the Hall of Famer and four-time NBA scoring champion, told ESPN that he was "caught off guard" when he learned that Williams had attempted to trademark "Iceman," the nickname that Williams earned during the 2025 season for his late-game performances that culminated with the Bears winning their first playoff game in 15 years.

"I've been the Iceman for 40-something years," Gervin said. "I never thought anybody would try to trademark it. He kind of knocked me out the box."

On March 16, Caleb Williams Holding Inc. filed four trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office related to the "Iceman" nickname. According to the trademark application, goods and services related to the name include athletic sporting goods and equipment, water bottles, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, hats, eyewear and downloadable posters and digital trading cards.

On March 20, Gervin Interests LLC filed two trademark applications for "Iceman" and "Iceman 44," the latter of which references the jersey number Gervin wore throughout his NBA career. In 1987, the San Antonio Spurs retired Gervin's number.

One of the biggest questions, according to trademark attorney Josh Gerben of Gerben IP, is how trademark rights are viewed. Gerben said Gervin could claim that even though he didn't file the trademark, he was using it before Williams even though Williams filed it first.

But since Williams filed his application first, the USPTO could accept Williams' application and refuse Gervin's.

OK, who is the real "ICEMAN" and should get the trademark?

Hint: It isn't Caleb Williams.....

2026 NCAA Tournament General Discussion

I'm old enough to remember when we shit on the SEC for shit like this
I wasn't referring to the B1G as we, just referring to us fans as a community. But I believe it's important for your conference to be strong to help attract top talent & improve your team as the year goes on. It's notable any time your league gets a team in the Final Four, and there could be more than 1 this year. I want the B1G to be perceived as a strong, competitive, top-tier conference, & this helps from that standpoint.

Indiana Hoosiers (2025 National Champions)

I get if the team has a policy with practice gear, but why share it with the media? Seems like something that should be shared within the team instead of making it a public embarrassment of the player.
I think he was asked about them, because their journalists were allowed in part of their practice. And in Cig fashion, he has no problem with providing what happened in his own way. Cig doesn't strike me as a guy who cares if he pisses off a star player. I honestly have no problem with it, he let Marsh know that he's not above anyone on the team. I could see someone like Saban doing the same and also providing the same response in a presser. I could see Day ripping into a player, but not giving full context or even much further info to the media. But everyone knows how Cig's personality is, so there should be no surprise that not only did he go off on the player, but he also did it publicly. Sorry, but I don't feel bad for Marsh, he's a professional athlete at this point and wanted to carry himself like he was Michael Irvin and his HC reminded him that he can act like that but he's not Jimmy Johnson, and he doesn't play that on his team

LSU Men's Basketball Official Thread (The Pear is back!)

I like Wade as a coach, and think it was time to remove Woodward as AD.

but seriously, the school got pu on probation, scholarship reductions, and Wade was given a show cause.

that will get you fired EVERYWHERE.

using your wife's personal checking account to pay a player's girlfriend hush money is still very much against the rules.

but if we're going to just completely decimate college athletics, I say might as well go all in with it.

It's impressive just how little any of those faces look like who they are supposed to depict.
I'm fond of the JsLU logo on the purple hat. So, would you say you stand with Wad?

I like this, but there's only so many coaches that can do this without the player pouting and wanting to quit on the team. Having a recent NC will make that player STFU and change his shoes. Cig is not with that foolishness
