NCAA suspends Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter​

Arion Carter has been suspended by the NCAA for the first two games of Tennessee football's upcoming season.​

Veteran linebacker Arion Carter has been suspended by the NCAA for the first two games of Tennessee's upcoming season, Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel reported on Wednesday.

A UT spokesperson confirmed Carter's suspension to GoVols247.

The NCAA elected to suspend Carter because of a $427 flight that was paid for him while he was going through the NFL pre-draft process. Carter was suspended even though he repaid the money according to Sparks' reporting.

Carter will miss Tennessee's season opener against Furman as a result. He'll also miss UT's road trip to Georgia Tech the second week of the season.

Josh Heupel was not happy with the NCAA's decision to suspend one of his leaders.

The linebacker declared for the NFL Draft in mid-December after an All-SEC junior season he achieved despite playing more than two months of the season with double turf toe, an injury severe enough for surgery. It sidelined Carter for the entire pre-draft process. He eventually withdrew from the draft with the intentions of entering the transfer portal before he and Tennessee worked out a return for his senior season.

This is the type of kid that would've ended up at Miami pre-NIL anyways. Never in my radar for that reason.

You got me started. Remember that when Tiger first came out, he was in top 5 in driving distance. Then, subtly, he toned down his driving, started hitting more fairways, hitting more greens in regulation, and became a scoring juggernaut. Believe Jack did the same thing. Wanted to be long, certainly, but not wild. Playing from the short grass is better than the long grass, and certainly not from behind a tree. Anyway, Neal has all this to look forward to, but also needs to work on his head game, and hold that lead going into the final day. Do believe he'll get there, but he has to pay his dues first, and adapt.

Golf is a strange game, and statistics can be very confusing. If a player is a short driver, there's going to be a long iron into green. Harder to hit closer to hole, ergo longer put, opening up more chances for a 3-putt. Hence, lower putting percentage. Long knocker, equates to shorter approach shot, and subsequently (if good scoring club player), a closer birdie putt, and more pars. PS, longer irons also mean more sand, and sand is an automatic +.5 strokes, unless you are particularly good out of the sand (one of my weaknesses), and can get up and down. Ultimately, on a course with par of 72, 36 of those strokes are putts. 50%. If you strike your irons close, you'll make more birdies, lowering your putts per hole, and going more under par. Unless one has been bitten by the golf bug, the above sounds like a bunch of gobbletygook. Jack won many tournaments, but also holds the record for second place finishes. He didn't get short game training/coaching until late in his career, or he would have won many more majors (IMHO). Anyway, Neal's going to have to look at Jag's numbers, and say, hey, that's what I need to work on. Oh yeah, one more thing.....putting is the most fickle part of golf. One day, you're holing 20 footers, and the next day you're missing 5 foot tap-ins. It's insane.

A school district in a rural corner of upstate New York is hitting pause on plans to deploy an AI-powered, humanoid robot in the classroom after state education officials, teachers and local residents raised concerns, including the maker’s ties to a company that produces hyper realistic sex bots.

The Salamanca City Central School District’s board approved the nearly $60,000 purchase from Realbotix with visions that “Sally,” as the stationary robot with long dark hair has already been nicknamed, would enhance the education of high school students studying robotics and technology fields.

“Having a difficult time programming an Arduino board? Don’t even know what an Arduino board is? Ask Sally and she can explain it,” Superintendent Mark Beehler, said Tuesday. “The robot also provides opportunities for students to learn how the robot is maintained, how it is updated with new approved content, and how to troubleshoot issues.”

But as news spread in the small community located on the Seneca Nation of Indians reservation, parents and teachers worried about how students’ personal information would be used. Unionized teachers took aim at Realbotix’s sex doll sister company, even as district officials and the company itself stressed the two manufacturers operate independently.

“A robot built by a company associated with sex dolls has no business in our classrooms,” said Melinda Person, president of the labor union New York State United Teachers.

For now, the robot pilot remains on hold as the district works through “enhanced student data privacy agreements” with the state education officials and continues outreach to the community, according to a statement the district posted Friday on its Facebook page.

So the NCAA and Conferences bought their politicians and now get to make up the rules without players having any voice what so ever. They are going to limit the kids ability to move and earn because they bought anti trust exemption.

To be clear...we are right back to square 1. The NCAA is the governing body because well, that has worked so well for so long , right?

In case you think that maybe politicians will avoid adding some odd provisions to the bill in return for votes....No. Politicians are gonna be politicians.

While the cap circumvention provision remains the top issue, there are others, such as a new, mysterious third section of the bill added just this week. Title III, called the "Ignite HBCUs Sports and Media Act," is a competitive federal grant program to assist historically Black colleges and universities, though details of the act are unclear.
