Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

I have an honest question for all of these ADs who’ve fired their coaches mid season, and some who have been quite successful. Who do they think is walking through the door and going to do better immediately? These firings are going to set most of these programs back YEARS, and these decisions were made to appease some millionaire donor who doesn’t know the difference between an X or Z receiver, or even what A Cover 4 defensive scheme is.
Honestly, Day may have one of the best jobs in America with how the team is set up. He easily could’ve been on the chopping block last year, but that is moot now. Idk of another coach in America with a better set up for their future. DeBoer is another loss away from getting shown the door, if Cristobal can’t win the ACC his seat could be scorching and if he sees 2 losses next year he could be gone. Cignetti is the only other coach who has an ice cold seat. But he’s at a basketball school, and he could fall down to a 7 win program and they’d still love him. No one Else has that luxury. Panning having 2 losses a year and he could be canned. The climate that has been created isn’t realistic

Cleveland Browns (Factory of Sadness)

Yeah I get that. But then why even bother with Flacco? If that’s the take then put the roomies in from day 1 and live with it. If you’re going to spend the draft capital then play them.

None of it makes sense, but I think the goal was for Pickett to be the guy this year and see how it went, since he's still young. They couldn't keep 4 QB's and he was hurt the whole preseason, so they went with Flacco to see what the team could do with a vet. If the season didn't go well the vet would get them through the rough schedule in the first 4+ games and they would see what the rookies can do. Sanders might be up after the bye since Gabriel hasn't shown to be the guy. The biggest problem is that the starting OT's are out, so the line sucks, and to make it worse, they are probably going to have to replace the whole OL after this season. The WR room is garbage as well, but might be fixable with a true WR 1 in the draft. Might as well trade Gabriel for Ewers and a 5th rounder so we can kick the tires on another rookie QB and Gabriel can go to his natural role of backing up Tua.

No QB is going to fix this dumpster fire of an offense, so I would look to fill as many non-QB holes as they can this offseason and give Gabriel/Sanders a second year to see if one of them can break out with more talent around them. Give me Downs and Tate in the first round and use the rest of the draft on the best OL available.

2025 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Latest from FanDuel. I’d say Simpson and Stockton are too high and Haynes King is too low.

Fernando Mendoza (Indiana) +300
Ty Simpson (Alabama) +340
Julian Sayin (Ohio State) +380
Marcel Reed (Texas A&M) +500
Diego Pavia (Vanderbilt) +850
Gunner Stockton (Georgia) +1200
Jeremiah Love (Notre Dame) +2500
Haynes King (Georgia Tech) +2500
Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss) +3500
Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State) +4000
Watched about half of the SC game. Ty Simpson missed a lot of wide open throws.

2025 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Look at where Sayin is and then recall that they have only let him throw like everyone else, once.
Day wants another title more than individual awards. We need to get our run game up to speed. If it starts clicking then you’ll see Sayin air it out more. But right now there is a problem that we need to work out first and there is more value in putting a lot on tape for the o line and running backs to work on until we get to the last Saturday in November. Then it’s let the fireworks go as the run game is as good as they can get. Sayin, Tate and Smith will feast.
