We are back for episode two of the new-look Hangout in the Holy Land with Justin Golba and Alex Frank, and the College Football Playoff committee has made a huge announcement.

Starting next year, the winner of the conference championship games will no longer receive an automatic first-round bye. Instead, the top four overall seeds will receive the bye. The conference champions will still receive an automatic bid to the playoffs.

We discuss the change and its ramifications, including why Notre Dame should be happy.

We also discuss the NCAA College Football 2026 videogame cover and share our unpopular opinions for theme week.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Requires getting out of your car… they might pull away before you apply the sticker. Works ok for stationary vehicles in parking lots, but for most situations you’re going to want a long distance asterisk applicator

TE Max Klare (Official Thread)

If we can use him like UGA did Bowers, it will make life easier for whichever new QB is our starter. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Day and Hartline integrate him with the offense.

Making life easier is probably a vast understatement of Klare proved to be a talent of Bowers’ caliber and he ends up being used similarly when you consider a transcendent talent like Smith will also be on the perimeter.

Those two — in addition to TWO other projected to be above average starters at slot and the other outside spots — make this offense borderline impossible to defend. It’s 2004 USC/2019 LSU level stuff. Once-in-a decade kind of stuff if Sayin turns out to just be “good.”

The degree to which you can manipulate defenses with pre snap motion is absolutely fucking insane. I wish Kelly was at the helm one more time with it, really hope Hartline took in as much as he could from a system, preparation and analytical standpoint.

I digressed hard. But Klare could absolutely wreck on the intermediate with how at least one safety will have to play deep with Smith. Defenses will essentially have no choice but to be in nickel or dime packages and imagine how much you could ran at that with this OL too.

If this offense isn’t dropping 40-44 points a game something went really wrong whether that be personnel or play calling. If personnel including BAD QB play.

TE Max Klare (Official Thread)

No offseason is complete without grand fantasies about the TE at Ohio State.

Welcome to the club, Max.

It speaks more to Smith than Klare imo.

No disrespect to Klare but when you have that 1 of 1 out there dictating what defense the opponent is going to have to play 70+% of the time, then you make a good TE into an absolute killer matchup. How many LB's, even on the best teams, can run down the middle with a good TE?

It's a total mismatch.
