I was once on a remote stretch of US 95, not far from where Sam Kinnison died, waiting at a railroad crossing. I didn't know that there were two tracks that ran parallel. When the train that I had initially stopped for had passed I was just about to hit the gas and cross (no railroad gates at the time which was insane) and another train came from the other direction on the other track. Had I hit the gas maybe two seconds earlier I would have been toast.
Very isolated and desolate, no services for miles
