Shit. Thought I was going to get to watch Buckeye baseball at noon here but it's not on!
Central Michigan already got punished. Can they get punished again? Maybe Northern Illinois will get a post-season ban? I mean, TTUN won't get in trouble - we know that. Maybe Ball State will get the death penalty? Dang - this is a tough one.

To me BA has become like steals, it's a unique stat that probably requires a specialist who won't give you much in other categories. Obviously a few unicorns still do it all but the majority of the game is played by guys who hit about .220 in BA terms. I personally just get sick of even looking at it on a given night but it doesn't really matter.I don’t understand separating out the OPS (on-base + slugging) into two separate categories. Why is this preferred to the current average and OPS? I like combining a traditional old-school stat like batting average, where there is a little luck and chance involved, with the OPS stat that rewards disciplined hitters with extra base hit capabilities. IMO, the current hitting categories are ideal.
I do understand updating some of the pitching categories. My preferred pitching categories are the following:
W - traditional old-school category where there is a little luck and chance involved
QS - rewards good starting pitchers that can make it deeper into games
Saves + holds - Combine the two categories to de-emphasize relievers
ERA
WHIP
K/9 - rewards quality pitchers in general either SP or relievers. I get where K/BB also does that too so don’t have strong feelings either way here.
Yeah, and that's not as bad as coseches literally paying kids in duffle bags and McDonalds and you know it. Tress lying and covering should've still not gotten the punishment that many other schools did for far worse offenses. My point is the NCAA picked and chose what punishments to dole out without any clear reasoning. scUM had a massive sign stealing scandal and nothing happened to the team other than the coach was suspended for a few meaningless games, which was worse? UNC had a cheating scandal where tutors were writing papers and taking tests for athletes, and the punishment, NOTHING! But Tress lying about tattoos, and trying to cover it up(which every coach has done when accused) gets a far worse punishment... It makes no sense and you know itThat's not why we were punished, and you know it. We were punished because the head coach learned about it, covered it up to keep those players eligible and then lied about to both the ncaa and the university.
Had he forwarded the email to the university and let them notify the ncaa, the players would have sat out some games, the program would have gone unpunished and Tressel would have been celebrated for actually embodying the integrity that he so cynically tried to promote himself as representing.
They're two games removed from their best game of the season. They gave a top 20 team a good game on the road while down 3 of their top 6 players. They went to Iowa (who is no slouch) and lost a game they weren't supposed to win starting a guy in the post who should be a 5 minute/game guy because two of their bigs were out. Did they play well, no, but if they're going to tank a game, heal up, and come out with some fire then that was the game to do it.That's what I'm saying. It looks like he's lost the team and 3 more losses would reaffirm.

They could've made rules and guidelines on payments to players in the 1970's and chose to keep the free labor model and act like the players were "student athletes". They caused this vacuum and expected the US government to fix the mess they created. And when it didn't happen things only got worse based on their ineptness. They knew programs were paying players for decades and chose to turn a blind eye or give a slap on a wrist, but then turn around and harshly punish a team who's players sold their memorabilia for tattoos
Gotta save their energy for the playoffsYeah I have to admit now I’m a bit sad lol… that defense was just ridiculous.
I tend to think we could’ve cut 6 and 8 loose last year more.
Its devastating. When you look at the roster, this might be the most talented team to not win the championship since the Buckeyes beat the 2002 Miami juggernaut.Yeah I have to admit now I’m a bit sad lol… that defense was just ridiculous.

Yet as some pointed out, as flawed as they were they just might have been better than the vacuum of authority their absence would create. Well, welcome to the vacuum.
Maybe Conor Stalions can repair it.
