2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

You could be spot on. Have always said rationalization is more important than sex, mostly because I've gone longer without sex than a rationalization. Just trying to think like a manager. As in what do we need, where do we need it, and do we have the horses in the right places. Harder than the stock market certainly, not knowing whether the skill sets the players bring will be matched by their heart/intensity/desire, which cannot be measured, only guessed. I, along with several others on this site, have opined that just because a young man is a 5*, does that mean they're NFL bound? Certainly not. Does it give them a chance? Certainly yes. Maybe they've achieved their status by playing against inferior talent, or developed early, to the extent of their potential. Some have, and faltered on the big stage. Or do they have the will, skill, and heart to stick out the bad days, and learn from their mistakes. etc etc. A crap shoot certainly, but certainly more reasoned than going all in on a pair of ducks. Go Bucks!

2025 Countdown Thread

With exactly 9 weeks to go, today brings us two legendary Buckeyes, each in their own way...

Academic All B1G
All American
Captain
National Champion

Michael Bennett

A great example of "The Ohio State Effect"; Michael was named first team All American in 2014, but not first team all big ten.

and then there is Kevin Woidke

2027 OH WR Jamier Brown is a Buckeye!!!

With all due respect, Danny Clark wasn't rated nearly as high as Brown. Brown is the #1 overall WR in the class and #5 OVERALL. He comes from a very OSU friendly HS who has supplied OSU with numerous alum(Braxton Miller being the most well known). I wouldn't worry at all about the tat, he's going to be a Buckeye. And I can see him spending more time at OSU camps and working with the team as the time gets closer for him to sign. Similar to what TSC did(another player who got an OSU tattoo in HS), and work with the players in his room to get a leg up. The thought of a 4th year Brandon Inniss/Bryson Rodgers(assuming Inniss stays to start for a 2nd year in a row, or if Inniss leaves and Rodgers gets his chance), 3rd year Jeremiah Smith, 3rd year Mylan Graham and a 2nd year CHjr(to name a few) getting to mentor Brown is a dream for Hartline.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, I'm just pointing out that the justification you're using to say he's solid to OSU isn't going to inspire confidence because of the numerous counterexamples.

I say that because pointing out he goes to Wayne a reason to be confident doesn't work either. Their most successful alum in recent memory is the head coach at Notre Dame!

I’m talking solely about the tattoo.

The Buckeyes land their 18th member of the 2026 class with four-star defensive tackle, Damari Simeon.

BOOM! Ohio State started the weekend off with some big time news, landing the 18th member of its 2026 class by way of New Jersey native, Damari Simeon.

Announcing Friday evening, Simeon gives position coach Larry Johnson his first defensive tackle commit of the cycle, and fills a void this coaching staff will continue to address moving forward.

A 6-foot-3, 275 pound defensive lineman out of St. Augustine Prep, the Buckeyes add a four-star talent thought to be the No. 201 player nationally and 26th-best at his position per the 247Sports Composite. Holding nearly 40 offers to his name, Simeon narrowed it down to a final four of Michigan, Penn State, Texas, and Ohio State, and the Buckeyes landed a major addition to a class that is taking off lately.

Ohio State may only have two commits along the defensive line right now, but with several targets set to decide in the near future, it does look as if LJ is starting to heat up and prove he still has what it takes to battle the other top programs in the country for these highly touted defensive line prospects so many schools are after. Simeon sits just outside the top-200 nationally, and his list of potential suitors show he is a true big-time player.

Receiving his offer from Ohio State back in February, it didn’t take long for the coaching staff to shoot up the ranks of top suitors. Though his recruitment wasn’t part of a very long lasting relationship, it clearly was a meaningful one.

Taking official visits to his top four schools starting in late May, Simeon started with Michigan, but gave the Buckeyes the last visit. Ohio State did enough to win out in the end.

From here, Johnson and the rest of the coaching staff will keep hard at work to ensure they add more top targets to their defensive line haul in the 2026 class, but it cannot be overstated how important landing Simeon is for this current cycle. A player with a great motor and plenty of skills to be technically sound up front, the Buckeyes are adding a guy that can rush the passer, but also be stout in the run game.

Simeon joins four-star EDGE Khary Wilder as the first two commits along the defensive line for Ohio State in this cycle, with both having joined the fold this month. The Buckeyes are also a heavy favorite to flip three-star DL Jamir Perez — a Glenville native — from Florida, and remain in the running for a number of other big names including Carter Meadows, KJ Ford, Landon Barnes, Emanuel Ruffin and a few others.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Food for thought;

Not even states like Alabama, Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi have had to use the state legislature to try and get the football schools out of trouble.

Just sayin'
So I wasn't thinking of it as their attempt to avoid punishments. I was thinking of it as their way of avoiding having to play by the rules.
Their choice will be to avoid punishments and playing by the rules, but forever be destroyed as a program because they won't be able to schedule any competition, or getting their plunger shoved up their asses to the backs of their teeth, and being destroyed for a few years while serving out their post-season ban.
Seems pretty simple to me, but let's see if it's that easy to them.
