OC/WR Coach Brian Hartline (National Champion, HC at USF, Buckeye OC for this postseason)

I think Hartline will be like Urban. Absolutely a Buckeye to his core but while he isn’t on staff he’s going to go compete as hard as anyone. He won’t cut his own throat to do a coach at OSU any favors.

The biggest favor Urban did when he wasn’t the coach here was to call off the dogs on Tressel in 2006 after spending three quarters fisting his beloved Buckeyes. It’s just business at that level.

Hartline could absolutely end up taking some Florida recruits from us. Listen, in this day and age, if Texas Tech and IU can be a problem so can USF with a coach like Hartline. To dismiss it out of hand is being naive imo.

There can be no doubt. That’s what I’m getting at. Normal to good culture and that department gets a Silkwood level scrub down.

ScUM culture on the other hand says no big deal, Leaders and Best so whatever we do really can’t be that bad because we start out at baseline better than everyone else.

It’s not hyperbole. Thats how they are.
Urban's shaking his damned head thinking, "I took the wrong dream job."

It's not Warde. It's not Harbaugh or Sharronna or any of the other miscreants on that staff. It's not Juwanna. It's the cultural rot, arrogance and victimhood fetish that is the core institutional identity of the place. Simply changing out players won't change their game.

I said a few pages back, I have worked in places (one in particular) that would take a neutron bomb to the department from Warde down just for the Moore stuff. Forget anything else had ever happened under his watch. People are gone, only the building and furniture remain.

They literally take the "nuke the site from orbit/only way to be sure" view of dipping the pen in company ink. Fire everybody's ass (correctly) to ensure you get the right one(s).

The staffer didn't get that raise unnoticed. There is no way.

I had an idea today. So instead of Mr Brightside, perhaps UM could pivot to the Everlast hit "What it's like" ... "Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of his pain/You know it crumbles that way, at least that's what they say when you play the game/God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news/Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to lose".
If they want to go all 70s soft rock, might I suggest.

Notre Dame (football only discussion)

I’ve been a Weird Al fan since the very early days when he was regularly played on the Dr. Demento radio show. Listened every Sunday evening in college days.

Dr Demento…..now there is a blast from the past. Wow.

Love it

Not our enemy. Hartline knows he can’t field a team at that level that would compete with the Buckeyes. The recruiting won’t even be a battle. It’s not like he left for Bama or USC.

Helping get guys PT and in positions of success is what life is about. You can be competitive without making someone out to be an enemy.
Again I disagree. A guy like hartline doesn't take a job if he doesn't think he can compete. WTF is he gong to work 90hr weeks for? To fucking lose?

I guess when Cignetti took the Indiana job, he just knew he was always going to be second rate.... he just wished upon a star that he could win 6 games and get a bowl game.. No. HE said FUCK that I am here to win.

If you dont think USF can compete your crazy. Shit just 5 years ago UCF was always in the running for the playoffs. FL has talent everywhere and the population has exploded over the last 5 years. I will be shocked if USF isn't a top 15 team in 2 years

B1G CCG: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana in Indy, Sat. Dec 6th, 8 ET on FOX

I’ve had a chance to breathe now, and scum imploding has been a nice bonus. I’d like to see these clowns again in the CFP final. I think they played their best and we played if not our worst, close to it and lost by three. I don’t see us taking them lightly and that happening again.

Wrong. This business is cutthroat at this level. Wish him well in the media, but after that he is on his own. PERIOD. You can't help your enemy.

USF being good would hurt Da U, UF, and FSU and potentially benefit OSU more that way than losing a recruit or r two to them would.
We dont get any recruits from FL? Wtf are you talking about. Listen I wish the world was a better place. Its not. Go read about all the crazy shenanigans that happen while these 18year olds are being recruited, its nuts.

I wish Hartline well, sincerely, but it's sink or swim for him. Thats just the nature of the beast.

$4.49 a gallon, what do you have??

Naw, one of the first things Trump did is put the OK on shale drilling. Before Biden closed it down, the USA was a net exporter of oil. Reduce the supply, prices go up. Suppliers see that the USA needed oil, and lo and behold, the price went up. Out here in Cali, hard to tell, as the gas tax is so high, never certain whether the 'temporary' taxes are over, or if the base price is being lowered. But have seen some of the off-brands selling for less than $4. Not by much, around $3.80.

You might be correct, dunno. But we're talking about Ohio State here. There's no way, USF can/could compete with tOSU, well, maybe baseball. But to foster Hartline, a splinter from the Day tree, with some Ohio State trained guys, that for whatever reason, haven't cracked the two deep, is a way for these kids to get their moment in the sun. And they go with good feelings. Don't know about you, but during my career, I take pride in that six of my staff, became what I was, albeit at other places. That is the third leg of the stool - learning, doing, and mentoring. Anyway, enough of the philosophy. Heck, wouldn't be surprised if tOSU schedules USF down the road, just to give them a bump.
Of course you take pride, and you should. You sound like a great person and the type of person a man would want to work for.

This isn't the small business world. This is The Ohio State University. A multi billion dollar affair. With other schools that are also billion dollar entities clawing at your fucking throat. This is why these guys make 10mill plus a year... cause you lose a little bit of your soul to win. It is what it is.

Also let's not lose sight of the fact that Hartline is leaving Day high and dry, while in the middle of trying to become repeat champs. Such a rare thing to accomplish in this business, and Hartline went cutthroat and took a private jet to tampa... because it is what it is.

Everyone in division 1 ball is our enemy man. Every team out there can take recruits. You need to be a fucking savage to compete at this level. I was hoping Day had become a hardcore savage after that loss to TTUN last year. I hope I am right.
