Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

NYK was playing hot but have not played in over a week now.
Their game 4, I believe it was, and last nights Cavs game, we're the best two performances of the Eastern playoffs. Cavs are coming off that one and the Knicks will have to try and find it again. I like our chances.

2026 tOSU Defense Discussion

Yeah, seems like the only 'ballyhooing' done is by the Buckeye beat writers. Nothing national that I can see. But lest we forget, Arvell wasn't exactly a household name before his break-out year that saw him go from a 'no-name' to a top 5 draft choice. There's been top flight talent put on the field, and they have pedestrian play, and get replaced by the #2, who goes on a rampage all over the place. Would be alot easier if there were a fool-proof crystal ball with the answer already written. Such is life. Anyone still have a working '8-ball' that gives you an answer when you tip it over?
My 8 ball answers are usually not safe for work. Just saying

Developed Here: Ohio State’s 25 NFL Draft Picks Over Last Two Years Prove It’s More Than Just A Motto

Developed Here.

It might just seem like a simple hashtag on social media, one of the mottos for the football team, or a cliché statement, but for Ohio State, the last two NFL drafts back up that it’s one of the best programs in all of college football in developing talent.
Development has always been key for a team to reach its maximum potential. That was the case before the transfer portal era and remains the case now, as well, even if the portal allows teams to fill holes where said team might have missed on an evaluation or didn't get the development from a player that it was expecting.

The Buckeyes have not only been able to develop prospects immediately out of high school, but also ones that they have added through the portal. It's turned into the perfect recipe for Ohio State, one that Ryan Day and Co. continue to lean on.

To take a closer look at this, we broke down Ohio State's 25 NFL draft picks over the last two years, which tied an NFL record (Georgia, 2022-23), to see how long each selection played for the Buckeyes.

OSU's NFL Draft Picks the Last Two Years and No. of Years in the Program
YEAR PLAYER ROUND DRAFTED YEARS AT OSU TRANSFER?
2025 CARNELL TATE 1 3 NO
ARVELL REESE 1 3 NO
SONNY STYLES 1 4 NO
CALEB DOWNS 1 2 YES
KAYDEN MCDONALD 2 3 NO
MAX KLARE 2 1 YES
DAVISON IGBINOSUN 2 3 YES
WILL KACMAREK 3 2 YES
LORENZO STYLES JR. 5 3 YES
CADEN CURRY 6 4 NO
ETHAN ONJANWA 7 1 YES
2025 EMEKA EGBUKA 1 4 NO
DONOVAN JACKSON 1 4 NO
TYLEIK WILLIAMS 1 4 NO
JOSH SIMMONS 1 2 YES
QUINSHON JUDKINS 2 1 YES
TREVEYON HENDERSON 2 4 NO
JT TUIMOLOAU 2 4 NO
CODY SIMON 4 5 NO
LATHAN RANSOM 4 5 NO
JACK SAWYER 4 4 NO
TY HAMILTON 5 5 NO
JORDAN HANCOCK 5 4 NO
DENZEL BURKE 5 4 NO
WILL HOWARD 6 1 YES
For an easier breakdown of those numbers:
  • Of the school record and draft-high 14 picks Ohio State had in 2025 (one short of the record set by Georgia in 2022), 11 spent at least four years with the Buckeyes, with 12 being in Columbus for multiple years.
  • Of Ohio State's four first-round picks in 2025, three spent four seasons at OSU and all four were with the Buckeyes for multiple years.
  • Of Ohio State's draft-high 11 picks it had in 2026, nine spent multiple years in Columbus, including seven that were Buckeyes for 3-4 seasons.
  • Of the four first-round picks OSU had in 2026, all of which were selected in the first 11 picks, each one donned the scarlet and gray for multiple years, with three representing the Buckeyes for 3-4 seasons.
In total, 13 of Ohio State’s 25 draft picks over the last two years were Buckeyes for at least four years and 21 were in Columbus for multiple years. Nine of the 25 transferred into Ohio State, but five of those nine were Buckeyes for multiple years.

Number of Years Spent at Ohio State by 2025-26 NFL Draft Picks

At Ohio State, 'Developed Here' absolutely includes transfers

Ohio State has perhaps the best reputation in college football when it comes to developing players they recruit out of high school. But what does not get talked about enough is how the Buckeyes are also doing a great job of developing players they get via the transfer portal. We have much more.

One of the mottos of Ohio State's football program is "Developed Here." You can find it written in massive letters throughout the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The Buckeyes are very proud of their reputation of developing excellent football players, and why shouldn't they?

When people hear the term "Developed Here" they likely think of players OSU recruited out of high school and stayed in Columbus for 3-5 years.

However, Ohio State has also become a program known for developing transfers as well. Will Howard had by far the best season of his career during his lone season in Columbus in 2024. Same deal for Seth McLaughlin. Josh Simmons, anyone? Davison Igbinosun is another good example and there are more, such as Will Kacmarek and others.

Caleb Downs likely would have been a stud anywhere he went – and in fact was as a true freshman at Alabama before transferring to Ohio State for his final two seasons – but you can include him if you'd like. Same deal for Quinshon Judkins.

Head coach Ryan Day was asked about this topic at his press conference earlier this week and gave an insightful response.

"Well, I think when you talk to guys like Davison or Will (Kacmarek), Quinshon, guys who have been in the program for a year or two, they can kinda do the talking for you as opposed to a coach. My son (RJ) is being recruited by some of these schools and I go on these visits and I kinda tell our staff, all coaches sound the same. They say the same thing over and over again.

"I think the thing that's different about Ohio State is we have the testimony to actually back it up. And we have the statistics to back it up. When you talk about the winning record, you talk about the stability, you talk about the development and what goes on here. We're very proud to say that I think we major in developing the elite athlete and preparing them for what's next, not only on the field but in life, but on the field as well.

"And maybe there's another team out there that has both coordinators who are former NFL head coaches, I don't think they do. (There is in fact no other program in college football history that has had two former NFL head coaches as its coordinators. This is a first.) And that's a tribute to (athletic director) Ross (Bjork) and our board to be able to go get the best people here and bring them in and pay them because they're pouring (knowledge) into our players.

"And so, when you come into Ohio State, you're gonna be surrounded by the best. You're gonna be on the biggest stage, you're gonna be surrounded by great people. Surrounded by players with the same mindset, and I think that matters as well. If you wanna know where you're going, just look around at who you're hanging with. And if you're trying to keep pace with these guys every day, it's only gonna make you better.

"So, guys like Davidson and Will come in from other programs, they just get a feel for that. And I love asking them, and I think it's always a good question to ask some of the guys who come from different programs, even for you guys. 'So, what's the difference between Ohio State and where you were?' It's always good to get that feedback and perspective back.

"But we're proud of that and how we set it up and excited to see where those guys end up here in a couple weeks (in the NFL Draft)."

2027 CA QB Brady Edmunds is a Buckeye!!!

I really want this kid to stay a Buckeye. Seems like he really wants to be at Ohio State and hope the staff gives him the chance. I’m all for bringing on another QB too and letting them fight it out, but he’s been a Buckeye since a kid it seems(and is extremely talented as well), I hope he gets the opportunity. Then he needs to win the job but I’d hate to see this kid start his career somewhere else at this point.

TE John Frank (All B1G, All American, OSU HOF, 2x Super Bowl Champion)

Anyone remember (with the Niners), getting in a scuffle with Lawrence, the Giants big time LB, when Franks wouldn't stop blocking him after the whistle (and Lawrence kept coming)? Beautiful. Heard he was plastic surgeon in SF, didn't realize he'd migrated to hair loss doc. Still in SF? Always thought he played pros to put aside funds to pay for med school, then quit to become doctor.

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

Every production line (industry) has a 'bottleneck'. That means that when everything flows well, one point is the thing that holds the line from going gang busters. Every production/assembly line has one. Using that simile, the Buckeye offense has an elite WR group, a much better than average RB group, and a QB that produced an almost 70% success ratio. That leaves the OL as the bottleneck. Everyone above has tabbed the OL as the problem, and yeah, Bowen's the figurehead, and yeah, the players have to execute. Heck, we've seen OL players get replaced, and then drafted by the NFL! And they practice against a darn good DL. Lack of talent? Everyone of them are very serviceable. Superstars, nope. Everyone has their flaws. Need better coaching? Hard to say. Teamwork? Chemistry? Injuries? Have zero answers, but hope they perform well enough to get the job done, keep Sayin upright, and give the WRs time to break free. And let us not forget to open holes for the RBs and get to the second level. An early Monday rant

WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Freshman of Year, B1G WR of Year, Unanimous All-American, 2025 Rose Bowl Off MVP, National Champion)

Absolutely baffles me how Jeremiah has not received the Biletnikoff (sp) award yet. He's done all of it, catches, TDs, YAC, big plays, that you'd want to see in a WR, and of course, helps the team win games, with the 'big catch'. Of course, I have a myopic view of the world, centered around the Buckeyes, and not an all-worldly one. Maybe this is the year?

QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

And this will be his third OC in three seasons. Cannot see any major changes being made by Smith, probably mostly tweaks, rather than directional changes. Kinda like the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mode. We always hear, that the TE will get more involved, and we'll do the RPO more, or hit the underneath receiver who's at speed type of things. Maybe the OC will give formations that look like pass, but are runs, and vice versa. Dunno. Just going to enjoy the show. tOSU can/will out talent most of the B10, and hopefully show well in it's only major OOL game, Texas, and then await the playoffs, where the caliber of team we're facing is on the same level as the Buckeyes. Go Bucks

2027 CA QB Brady Edmunds is a Buckeye!!!

Thought Chip was the stay at home, come visit me type of guy. And guess that getting a verbal from Ryan's son is not the be-all, end-all for NW. tOSU QB room is/will be a bit empty after this year, assuming that Sayin goes pro, and the other senior QB uses up final eligibility. That would leave Tavien and Brady, plus what, 2(?) walk-ons? Certainly, for safety reasons, have another this year, and another next. Always good to have another QB on the shelf, to be opened in case of emergency.
