or it's the dreaded vote of confidence
really just depends on how quiet they feel like they can keep him I'd bet.
Remember it took about 30 seconds of seeing that document showing the chick made ~50% more than everyone else before pretty much everyone knew that it went higher than Sherrone, the department knew.
Then we find out that not only was Warde letting Sharrone supervise and determine pay for the chick he wasn't supposed to travel with, he had the compliance officer report to him and not some independent body.
Same concept applies-he isn't doing that by himself. Someone(s) higher than Warde allowed that kind of blatant misalignment occur. There is no way a department head gets to circumvent University risk management protocols by subverting the compliance rep without approval from above.
So, all that said to get back to the point: it just depends on how quiet they can keep him because he was not the ultimate puppet master here.
-He pushes too hard, they close ranks and make him the scapegoat.
-They take him too far, he goes scorched earth, rats everyone out and counter sues them for a massive amount
It's in both their best interests to play nice and make it a mutual parting of the ways with money and NDA's up the ass.
