I agree 100% that not getting this guy won't make Tennessee a legit title contender and that OSU will be "fine" without him, but he absolutely could be the difference between winning or not winning a natty down the road for OSU. E.g., I know I'd have liked the odds of OSU not needing to sweat the kicking game against Georgia in the 2022 Peach Bowl if we'd been handing the ball to Bijan Robinson instead of Dallan Hayden. Just making a point: I still wouldn't overpay and once TN underperforms I wouldn't be surprised if we acquired him via the portal later anyway.I can see OSU stepping back and trying to flip Jayden Miles, and if that doesn't work, then reassessing the class at the end or towards the end of the HS season. OSU has 6 RBs on schollie, so RB isn't a NEED, but if/when he chooses Tenn on Wednesday, just expect a meltdown by a number of OSU fans, and Tenn fans wanting to rub it in our faces. But tbh, they are desperate. OSU in 2027 can still have a rotation of: Jackson, West, Bey/Rogers and be a top 5 RB room in the country. In 2028, OSU could have a rotation of: West, Bey, Rogers, Akih and be fine. And I'm not even including Lock finding a transfer in each of the following seasons.
I hope DGG chooses OSU, but in the end, the program will be fine with or without him. I can remember guys like Bijan Robinson, Richard Young, and CJ Baxter being big misses at RB in their time, yet OSU was fine. And they'll be fine in this case too
Valenti re: Mike Hart being excommunicated from scUM for actually having some integrity. "He's on St. Helena with Napoleon." That's primo Valenti gold IMO.

Make a decision and go find something incredibly stupid someone who is upset by your decision inevitably says on the internet and use that stupidity to retroactively justify your decision. It works no matter what schools are involved.
I also just thought of another silver lining … at least we don’t have to light a roster spot on fire for DGG’s high school friend now.

Michigan AD out after disgraceful tenure comes to an end
For Ohio State fans, this is some good news.scarletandgame.com
I’m not buying the part in the article that I’ve bolded. Cheating is in their nature. With Manuel gone, the Buckeyes will likely maintain supremacy in the best rivalry in sports over TTUN. Kyle Whittingham is a stop-gap coach who won't be there for the long-term. Ohio State is too good, and their culture is too strong for them to lose too many games to TTUN.
The Buckeyes are happy with what they have been able to do with their athletics. With Manuel ousted, they no longer have to worry about cheating being rampant throughout the athletic department. That's especially true in the football program. The Buckeyes have to be pleased with that.
This issue for TTUN is one that will continue to follow them until Manuel actually is gone at the end of 2026. He gave TTUN a lot of success on the playing field because he was willing to overlook the rules. That issue is something that Michigan looks like they want to fix finally.
Ohio State, on the other hand, will continue to do things above board. Ross Bjork might have some issues, but at least he's ethical.
That's naive to think the bad fans are only ones who didn't go to the school. There are bad fans who will tweet nonsense at recruits who went to Ohio State as well.
Ok…I should have said 99%That's naive to think the bad fans are only ones who didn't go to the school. There are bad fans who will tweet nonsense at recruits who went to Ohio State as well.
The gap between the two programs doesn’t appear to be about football. Ohio State has more to offer in terms of program success and NFL development. The divide, instead, likely sits on the financial front. Tennessee is willing to go significantly higher than Ohio State for a player who has never taken a college snap. The deal from Tennessee could exceed $2 million per year over three years, while Ohio State’s offer sits just above $1 million annually over the same period.
