Are people really actually worried that this is some revival moment for them? They have a coaching staff who has shown they cannot even try to run a passing offense that's not middle school level not to mention they have to buy legit every other position as well with their lack of depth everywhere to even get back to competitive.

SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

SEC Commissioner Takes Shot at Other Conferences Over Strength of Schedule

As the college football edition of Selection Sunday nears on Dec. 8, coaches, athletic directors and league administrators are in full lobbying mode.

The College Football Playoff selection committee is just weeks away from releasing its final rankings and the first field of the 12-team era. As the football edition of Selection Sunday nears on Dec. 8, coaches, athletic directors and league administrators are in full lobbying mode.

As of this week, No. 3 Texas, No. 7 Alabama, No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 10 Georgia would all make the 12-team field. Tennessee is ranked No. 11, but would be on the outside looking in; No. 14 BYU would jump into the field as the fifth-highest ranked conference champion. The Big Ten would land the same number of programs in the field as the SEC based on the current rankings, with Big 12, ACC, Mountain West each sending conference champions as automatic bids and independent program Notre Dame landing at at-large. Three more SEC programs—No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 18 South Carolina and No. 23 Missouri—are also in the committee's latest rankings, although they're on the outside looking in.

It is no surprise that SEC commissioner Greg Sankey believes that his league should be getting a lion's share of the at-large bids. He took to X on Wednesday to make that clear, sharing a set of aggregated strength of schedule metrics that have six SEC programs up at the top.

The depth of the SEC is undoubtedly impressive, and the league has a host of teams with multiple losses as a result. Texas leads the way at 9-1, Texas A&M is 8-2 with a 5-1 SEC record and the next four teams are all 8-2 with both losses coming in league play.

Strength of schedule is just one factor, of course. It is hard to see undefeated or one loss Big Ten teams being left out, there four automatic bids outside of the SEC, and Notre Dame is almost guaranteed a bid if they don't slip up down the stretch. Sankey will likely do plenty of politicking over the next few weeks, but without a material change for the other schools in the mix here, it seems unlikely that he gets the five or six SEC teams that he wants in the field.
The strength of schedule thing is based on a house of cards by only playing 8 conference games, and thus having a better overall winning % than the B1G and Big XII, who play 9.

Higher Ed. firings and resignations

Talking about the situation at Ohio State, why should Arts & Sciences gut themselves to please the business or ag colleges. A&S is by far the largest college by enrollment and thus is bringing in by far the most tuition dollars. Research dollars are a different story. but business isn't nowhere near the top in it.

Undergraduate enrollment by college
A&S 34.8% (almost double the next two)
Engineering & Architecture 19.6%
Business 18%
Education 6.6%
Ag 4.4%

If A&S is that big of a deal at tOSU, then they need to start treating it as such. It’s been LONG known that the undergrads shoulder a huge burden for the graduate research programs within the college. Hell, they don’t even hide the fact that the undergrad experience is completely at the expense of the grad / research funded work.

So, say what you will about Fredo and make your Bevis and Butthead comments all you like… just know that a lot of our undergrad programs are a thinly veiled sham that sucks a disproportionate amount of resources from the undergrads who are in classes and expecting more than what they are getting.

Fuck, my youngest saw that shit a mile away when he applied — and tOSU made a very rich academic aid package for him. It still wasn’t worth it as a Chem E major.

Bottom line, in A&S, the undergrad experience at tOSU is nowhere on par with the reputation that comes from the work put in on the graduate level programs in A&S.

It’s a tier 1 research institute and it is seemingly very clear that they could give two shits about the kids who are funding a third of their undergrad tuition.

That doesn’t seem sustainable. And that’s ok… just stop offering the shitty undergrad experience and focus on the grant generating graduate programs. But let’s be honest with ourselves as to what tOSU is and what it isn’t. Not that what it is is bad… but it sure as shit is not an undergrad focused school in A&S.

ttun recruiting (all classes)

What are the chances Underwood actually signs with Michigan? This feels like a situation where the kid flips again at the last minute. Has never seemed like he actually wants to be at Michigan. Unless they just came up with enough money where he couldn't say no,
I think the money spoke loud enough for him to sign. Now the question will be if he stays there long term

Guess money talks.

I'd bet good money on him not making it 1 year, he might not even sign there if the NCAA comes in with sanctions. If he does play next year it won't be pretty. Even if they can build a ok OL through the portal, they aren't convincing any good portal WRs who have NFL aspirations to sign up under coaches who have shown they have no clue about a passing game with a freshman QB.

Underwood flipped to scUM so..:.

Doesn't matter, they likely had to give him enough money where he couldn't say no. Without a competent OL, running game or WR core it's likely Underwood will be a 1 and done at scUM anyway. They can act like it's some kind of "program changing" recruit all they want, but given the circumstances it took to actually get him for the moment, it's not. They also set a stupid precedent for themselves, kid's are gonna shun them for not emptying the bag for them as well.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Moore or any of the coaching staff, this is purely a $$$ transaction win.
