Insider gives key insight on Ohio State's pursuit of David Gabriel Georges​

The insider gave a breakdown of where the battle stands between Ohio State and Tennessee for the five-star recruit.

Rivals insider Steve Wiltfong gave a positive update on Ohio State's chances of landing Gabriel Georges as the days dwindle on when he will make his commitment decision.

"But Ohio State, that's the program I think he grew up wanting to go to. He's been there four times. His best relationship is with Buckeyes running backs coach Carlos Locklyn. He was the first to offer him when he was at Oregon. I think him taking that job at Ohio State from Oregon shows David Gabriel Georges the magnitude of what Ohio State is when you stack it up against other programs in the country."

Wiltfong continued to give reasons why Gabriel Georges would want to suit up for the Buckeyes next season in Columbus.

"The way that they treat their starters and superstars long-term, they can point to that with the experience guys like Jeremiah Smith is currently having and how it's setting them up down the road. I've had a longstanding pick for Ohio State. I could easily see him at Tennessee. I just haven't been able to flip that pick because I think Ohio State still has a lot to say in this recruitment, and I think David Gabriel Georges could really see himself thriving at Ohio State."

Ohio State should feel confident about landing David Gabriel Georges​

Based on all of the facts and the intel, there is no reason why the Buckeyes shouldn't feel very confident that he will be on the roster next season. If Gabriel Georges wasn't playing high school football in the state of Tennessee, this wouldn't even be a question.

Ohio State's ability to prepare players for the NFL is what sets them apart from almost every other team in the country. DDG has seen that, and he clearly sees that as a strong draw. It wouldn't be shocking if he picked the Vols, but it would certainly sting.

Day and his staff will have to wait until July 22 to learn where he wants to be. Until then, all they can do is stay in constant contact with him.

Ohio State football prediction from Athlon Sports is what every Buckeye fan dreams of​

Ohio State football fans would sign up for this in a hurry.

This season, the Buckeyes return a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball. In fact, they might be the best offense in the country. One major publication certainly thinks so. In fact, Athlon Sports gave their bowl predictions for this season, and they are very favorable to Ohio State.

Athlon Sports predicts an Ohio State national championship​

During their annual preview, Athlon Sports gave a prediction for every bowl game. In that prediction, they gave the Bucks the number one overall seed. They have them taking on eighth-seeded Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl. After that, they have the Buckeyes advancing to take on fourth-seeded Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.

It culminates in Ohio State beating second-seeded Georgia in the national championship game, which takes place in Las Vegas this season. Based on their seeding, Athlon has the Buckeyes beating TTUN, winning the Big Ten, and winning a second national title in three years.

That is a prediction of which every single Ohio State fan would sign up for. That would make this team the best Ohio State football team of all-time. That could end up being true, but the Buckeyes would have to go undefeated in order to achieve that goal. That's a tall order with their schedule.

Ohio State feels confident it can win it all​

Heading into this season, the Buckeyes are extremely confident that they can pull off this exact prediction. There is a very good chance they have the highest-scoring offense in the country next year with Julian Sayin throwing the ball to Jeremiah Smith and Chris Henry Jr.

Defensively, Matt Patricia returns to coach a talented but inexperienced unit. They will have to rely on several transfer portal players on all three levels of the defense. Still, Patricia coached up the defense to have the best statistical performance of any defense in the nation a year ago.

It seems the Buckeyes have finally cured their kicking problems, or so they hope. Missed kicks have plagued the team for the last few years, and they hope that issue is fixed. That, along with the offensive line, is the biggest question mark the team possesses heading into the Fall.

If those questions are answered, Ohio State could be in the market for a lot of wins next season. In fact, it could be that golden year Day has been searching for.

Sales has set a commitment date for July 17th. Sales is still considering Ohio State, Indiana, Texas, Alabama, and LSU. It does seem like the decision is coming down to the Buckeyes and the Hoosiers. Ohio State was initially the favorite to win the services for Sales, but that has flipped to the Hoosiers.

Of course, that doesn't mean that Ohio State is out of the fight to get him. Cortez Hankton has worked very hard to establish a firmer relationship with him since he took the job in Columbus. It looks like he has a real shot to get him to join Jamier Brown as the other five-star recruit in this class.

Losing Sales to IU would certainly hurt. They are the defending national champions, and they are starting to turn into a real problem on the recruiting trail. Sales is an Indiana kid, so taking him out of the state is not something that is going to be easy to do.

Ohio State still has a chance to have an all-time July​

There are three different recruits who have now set commitment dates for the month of July. Both Sales and Gabriel Georges have set commitment dates for this month. Four-star defensive lineman Karlos May has also set a commitment date for later this month.

If Ohio State is able to somehow land all three recruits, that would help the Buckeyes have a shot to end up with a top-three class. Ryan Day and his staff feel confident that they can, but Sales is the one they feel the least confident in. Ohio State is still going to feel great if they get the two other recruits.

A Channel battle for the Cup would be great watching at least aa far as fans and countries goes. I don't think anyone can handle France on the pitch right now though.

Former Ohio State basketball player Bruce Thornton has historic Summer League performance for the Rockets​

In his Summer League debut, Thornton scored 27 points on 7/18 shooting. He was a perfect 7/7 from the free-throw line and was a game-high +20. Thornton also had three rebounds and three assists to go along with three steals. He had the most points in the history of the Rockets for a rookie in his Summer League debut.

Not only did Thornton score the ball well, but he also helped the Rockets win the game over Denver. That is one of the big reasons why Houston wanted to draft him. With a performance like this, this could really help Thornton not just make the roster but also get some playing time.

Another good thing was that Thornton only had one turnover in this game. When he was with the Ohio State Buckeyes, he always did a good job of taking care of the ball. Now, he is ready to bring that same steadiness at the point guard position to the Rockets.

Re: Manuel signed a five-year extension in 2024 through June 2030 at more than $2 million a year. A buyout provision in his contract requires a severance of 36 months of pay unless the school and Manuel reach a settlement agreement.

Just sayin': Why would Manuel settle for anything less than $6M?

It's really a move that makes no sense. They only gave him a 2 year contact which shows zero confidence. Why not just have him as a interim for a year then find someone else if that's the case? Wonder if there's possibly something brewing behind the scenes that they wanted to have "stability" at the HC spot in case whatever that may possibly be turns into a problem.

I think it's moreso that they wanted to avoid taking a hit in losing players on their roster with no chance to replace them. They obviously don't want Boynton to be their coach long-term, but they're willing to call him their head coach in order to avoid taking a hit in the short-term.

Along those lines; Day 2 of the draft.

1 high school kid that you can at least project and have a reasonable shot at something happening.

3 more, and counting, college guys who have already shown their limits in college as in they are a bullpen arm, defense only catcher or infielder that couldn't hit in college.

I really don't get this. Maybe it's the economics of a looming lock out? Are they just trying to make sure the minors are stocked? They are drafting guys who topped out in college.

Eckelman just got drafted on the 8th round by the Mariners. Probably will sign if I had to guess so he won't be playing in college next year anyways. Congrats to him
