2026 OH RB Favour Akih is a Buckeye!!!

If it’s true that he didn’t start playing football until the 9th grade, just think about how much more room there is to grow
Wow, yeah that means insane upside because he is just a natural athlete with a feel for the position. He'll have a lot of room to grow and the time to do it, so it seems like a win-win for both sides imo.

2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Never really gave a thought to which position on the field is more 'accident prone'. Hate it when it happens (to anyone on any team). Depth is a large key, and hopefully, the gap between a 1 and a 2 isn't monumental, so more of a 'plug and play' may occur. Guess last year showed all of us why the cross-training of OL was important. Having such a talent as Donovan made the switch easy, doubt that anyone predicted that he'd become such a great LT. Certainly agree that OL projections are the hardest to make, given the disparity between HS talent levels. And might also say that development of the OL is harder and takes longer than that of a QB. Also seems like the loosening of numbers of assistants (or whatever title they carry now), means that schools can add various developer-type coaches to staff, while limiting the off-campus recruiting numbers.

2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

The rifled approach can work if a schools NIL is ready to spend massive amounts on a HS OL. But with OL needing 5 starters, and the OL being such a crap shoot at the HS level, imo the “scatter gun” approach is more beneficial. Frye was a very good developer but had a very rough time acquiring the talent needed to keep his OL at an elite level. OSU will need a blend of 5-6 HS recruits and another 3+ from the Portal in order to sustain talent levels. Especially with the CFP adding upwards of 4 additional games.
Exactly why I am glad we didn't get into a bidding war on Sanders...yeah, he is a great talent. But I like Carter Lowe about the same and he comes without that price tag. The shotgun approach works just fine now on OL and the portal, which we have hit very successfully in recent years on OL. I was in a mild state of panic with Frye's recruiting, but he meshed those two things well and developed guys.

I think Bowen is a better recruiter, but he can replicate the general process. I'll admit that Guthrie stings for me, but a 5 man position group doesn't make it the end of the world. Especially if Riley and Greer are both part of this OL class, from there we will sort out the rest.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Love the suggestion that if Weiss throws scUM under the bus he should be discredited because of his crimes here.

They really are dumb, yea it doesn't directly say they found any proof of hacking of any practice footage or stuff like that, but it does say he was accessing the Iclouds of student athletes from universities across the country so who knows what he pulled from there.
Sammy "The Bull" was a sociopathic piece of shit. Doesn't mean his testimony against Gotti when he went rat wasn't true.

The L will still count for us.

But I want them punished to the maximum extent.

And hell, I want Sherrone's next employer to suspend him for 4 months like they had the NFL do to Tressel too
"Next Employer." You're a funny man, Mike. That's why I'll kill you last.

Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Completely unsurprising result. Same story every fucking year with this coach. Pretty darn good regular season followed by loss to a lower-seed in the dance. Do something different, mcdoofus.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

I haven't checked today, but last week I took a few minutes to gauge the reaction over there. It was pretty much the exact same reaction to when the news about Stallions first broke - rogue agent, acted on his own, patting themselves on the back for firing him as soon as the university found out..... more of the same dfbia type stuff........
So many rogue agents. The creepy creepster OC with the NSA level hacking software. The pedo showing up to meet the teenage girl in his coaching gear. The guy who ran the sign stealing operation. The assistant coach caught telling players not to cooperate with the ncaa. Am I missing any rogue agents?

Cincinnati Bengals (Same Ole Bengals)

We needed to make that move, but probably not much of an improvement to the interior OL. Definitely need to draft an IOL in the first or second round, then pretty much nothing but defense other than that pick. I say that but no Jackson Carman pick again, we have to pick the right guy. To me, I would consider trading back a couple of picks and shoot for Donovan Jackson...or if he might not fall past our pick, just take him because it is worth it.

Regardless, if we don't draft IOL or an Edge with the first pick, we can confirm our front office is on drugs.

RB CJ Donaldson (Official Thread)

Donaldson says he feels much faster now that he’s practicing at a lighter weight.

“I feel like I'm running like the Flash right now,” Donaldson said. “I definitely feel quicker and more explosive.”

While Ohio State wanted Donaldson to lose some weight, it still wants Donaldson to be a power back. His size is one trait that makes him unique compared to 210-pound sophomore James Peoples, the running back he’s expected to split carries with in Ohio State’s backfield this season, and Locklyn wants his running backs to have different strengths that complement each other.

That said, Locklyn believes there’s a lot more to Donaldson’s game than just being big and strong.

“I look at him as a slasher,” Locklyn said. “He has good enough speed, great hands, but he's a slasher, a big guy. Big guys often win with the little guys, so he's gonna fall forward. But I look at him as a slasher with power. Got really good feet for a big guy. Really good hands and good vision. So (the weight loss is) gonna help him a little bit with probably his longer speed, but he is good.”
.
.
.
He’s brimming with confidence in his ability to do so because of the difference Ohio State has already made on him in just two months.

“It’s been off the charts,” Donaldson said. “They’ve developed me like from day one, like since the day I stepped on campus. The workouts, my eating habits, where I need to get to in my body weight, what I need to improve on to develop into an NFL running back and have an opportunity to get to that level. And just them investing into me as much as possible, like day in and day out, they invest a lot.”

Just sayin': Over the years I've been wondering why more Ohio State running backs never seem to consistently "fall forward".
CJ interests me quite a bit and I was thinking back to Sermon and more recently Judkins in terms of RB transfers. Sermon came in with modest stats but great talent, then thrived here. I think that could be CJ's trajectory if he keeps up the work. Judkins came in with the accolades but stepped it up to another level. CJ seems to have the ability to have a similar impact even if Peoples is the lead RB1.

Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Really enjoy watching the wrestling tournaments, but I have some comments about the state of the sport.

WTF is going on with eligibility? How can Starocci go for a fifth title? Whatever happened to 5 years to play four, plus medical redshirts and Mormon missions? He won 4 titles after the Covid year, he should be done - it’s annoying that he’s in a category by himself when I don’t believe the 7 previous 4-time NCAA champs had the same opportunity (and they shouldn’t have had).

How can Steveson wrestle this year, when he started in November, 2018? I was glad he got beat, although I don’t understand how the Okie State transfer from Air Force thought he could wrap himself in an American flag before competing against a guy that has won an Olympic Gold for the USA. And after 4 years at Air Force, shouldn’t he have had to start his military commitment?

Those matches started and ended the finals last night, and I get that they increased interest in the tournament last night, but allowing all these guys to extend their eligibility makes historic records get broken in situations where I don’t think it should be happening.

Also, it’s long past time to revise the 10 weight classes - the 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, 285 groups were established when the average football O-lineman weighed between 240 and 250. That average is now clise to 320 at major college programs. So there are a slew of large, athletic guys between 220 and 350 pounds that only have the 285 pound weight class as an option if they want to wrestle,

If they added something like 220, 245, and 325 pound classes, a lot of strong, athletic guys would be drawn into wrestling who currently don’t attempt the sport. I realize that would impact records based on 10 weight classes, so if they don‘t want to do that they should change the classes to something like 130, 140, 151, 163, 176, 190, 205, 220, 255, and 300, which would better reflect the weight distribution among potential athletes.
It was an amazing tourney even though overall it was not a great performance for our boys, that was the best finals I can remember watching and the ending at HWT was absolutely epic, I am glad Steveson got upset after his shenanigans to start the match. We had a group of 20+ wrestling junkies up at the cabin hootin and hollerin the entire time, wrestling matches breaking out in the living room so much we just moved all the furniture out. Wrestling is great because if you love the sport, you can enjoy the tourney even though we had a down year. I say down year when we tied for 5th, but a lot of that was bonus points from select guys and that was not a great team performance not matter where we landed. But seeing Jesse get back-to-back titles was worth it alone, all the other great wrestling was a bonus.

As to your point, eligibility and weight classifications deserve to be looked at. It's ridiculous the age of some of these guys and the number of years of eligibility. I kind of understand the one year of COVID-related eligibility, except for the fact they didn't extend that to the seniors in 2020, which is absurd to me. Pletcher and Kollin Moore were primed to win their first title, and had it stripped away by a stupid decision on eligibility...they didn't just want to wrestle all year, they wanted to win it all in March. It was an absolute boneheaded move by the powers that be.

As to weight classes, I was saying during the Tourney that I would like to see an 11th weight class added between 197 and 285, say 235 or 240. Feldman is a perfect example, he's an incredibly talented wrestler but is a tweener that can't get down to 197 but also can't carry the weight to wrestle against the elite big guys. He gets in on shots constantly but can't finish because the guys just use their weight to pancake him. To me just adding that weight class would solve any issues at the heavier weights, but adding a couple of pounds to the other weights could make sense. I have done zero research on it, but that is just my gut instinct response.

The Buckeyes continue to utilize their spring practice periods as an asset on the recruiting trail.

The first week of spring practice is now in the books for Ohio State, and with it came a great early glimpse of this current crop of Buckeyes. Additionally, it has already provided the coaching staff with an excellent recruiting tool, as prospects from all across the country have flocked to Columbus to watch the reigning national champions prepare for next season.

One of those prospects was none other than Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 class as well as, of course, the top offensive tackle in the cycle. The Missouri native just wrapped up a multi-day visit to Ohio State, his second trip to the school after taking in one of the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff practices back in December.

Had a great time at @OhioStateFB over the last two days!#NSGB @ryandaytime @TylerBowen pic.twitter.com/SljEeiPEpe

— Jackson Cantwell (@jcantwell2499) March 22, 2025

Ryan Day and Tyler Bowen are obviously making a heavy push for the five-star offensive lineman. Cantwell was the first player Day made a trip to visit shortly after Ohio State won its title, and Bowen is making up for lost time after joining the Buckeyes’ staff in February. Ohio State is included among Cantwell’s top six schools, but is the only one of the group without an official visit date set. Bowen will look to change that coming off this most recent visit.

Elsewhere, Ohio State sent out a trio of new offers following spring practice on Friday.

Remaining on the offensive line theme, one of those offers went out to 2026 IOL Tucker Smith. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound recruit is the No. 10 player out of his home state of Arizona as well as the No. 68 IOL in the country, per 247Sports’ rankings.

After an incredible meeting with @ryandaytime I’m proud to announce that I have received an offer from @OhioStateFB!!!@Coach_Dickey @TylerBowen @mjohnson7672 @Coach__Fields @bkullos pic.twitter.com/eDz44XUfxf

— Tucker Smith (@TuckerSmith77) March 22, 2025

Smith holds a dozen offers to his name from the likes of Arizona State, Kansas State, Minnesota, USC, Washington and now Ohio State. Despite being listed as an interior lineman, Smith plays tackle at Sandra Day O’Connor, showcasing his versatility and being know for playing with an edge. His recruitment has seen a bit of an uptick at the turn of the calendar, having also recently been named Arizona Republic’s First Team All-Arizona.

A last name that will likely sound familiar to football fans, Ohio State also extended an offer on Friday to 2027 safety/linebacker, Cooper Witten — the son of 11-time Pro Bowl tight end, Jason Witten. The former is the No. 1 safety and No. 24 player nationally per the 247Sports Composite, but James Laurinaitis and the Buckeyes are recruiting the multi-talented prospect as a linebacker.

Glory to God!! I am very blessed and grateful to receive an offer from Ohio State University. @OhioStateFB @JLaurinaitis55 @ryandaytime @CoachMcGrath22 pic.twitter.com/UGUeglNR4M

— Cooper Witten (@CooperWitten_) March 22, 2025

“I was really excited to get that offer from Ohio State because they are an elite program coming off of an outstanding season,” Witten told Bucknuts. “It was my first time [at Ohio State] seeing everything, so it was super cool seeing what they are all about. I got to spend some time with coach (James) Laurinaitis on the visit and he is a great coach who has a big heart for the players.”

A true do-it-all type of athlete, Witten plays multiple positions on the football field as well as playing basketball and running track. As a freshman in 2023, the 6-foot-2 multi-level defender registered 82 tackles, four TFLs, two picks and two forced fumbles while also blocking three kicks. Witten plans to make a return trip to Columbus in the fall to see the Buckeyes in action.

Last but not least, Ohio State also sent out an offer on Friday afternoon to 2027 athlete, Nate Carson. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound lineman plays both offensive tackle and defensive end, but the Buckeyes are recruiting him on offense.

Blessed to say I received an offer from The Ohio State University #AGTG @1luv5 @Demyond1 @ChadSimmons_ @AnnaH247 @adamgorney @TomLoy247 @247Sports @TylerBowen @N_Murph @BrandonLittleBL pic.twitter.com/VZVOuH9zcW

— Nathan “Nate” Carson (@natecarson09) March 21, 2025

Ohio State is among the early offers for Carson, joining a small group that includes Alabama, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina and a few others. His visit to campus this past weekends sounds like it went very well, and it is clear Bowen is already having a tremendous impact on the Buckeyes’ offensive line recruiting.

“I loved everything about Ohio State; everything was just perfect,” Carson told Bucknuts. “The practice was very intense. I loved how everybody competed and how the coaches coach their players. The visit was amazing. Talking to coach Bowen and the other O-line coaches was great. I can say Ohio State makes you feel welcome. Everybody talks to you, players included. Overall Ohio State in general is amazing.”

Quick Hits:

  • Another big name in attendance for Ohio State this past weekend was 2026 four-star running back Jae Lamar. Listed as the No. 7 RB and the No. 94 prospect nationally per the 247Sports Composite, Lamar has official visits set with four other schools, but plans to add the Buckeyes to the list after a successful visit. He has a commitment date set for July 4.

  • Five-star 2027 defensive lineman Chris Whitehead has an upcoming visit planned with Ohio State. Ranked as the No. 4 EDGE and No. 11 player in the cycle overall per the 247Sports Composite, Whitehead will be in Columbus on April 3. He currently does not hold on offer from the Buckeyes, but that could likely change following the trip.
