The Memorial (Jack's Tourney)

Anyone know what the 'donation' to play in the Memorial is, if you're not a celebrity? Once bid $10,000 for a place in the Crosby Clambake (at Pebble Beach), and was leader for a night, but got outbid next day. Just an idle musing. Would be a great Bucket List accomplishment by the way.
Just sayin': You need some kind of "in". Playing in the official Wednesday Workday Golden Bear Pro-Am at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, requires a direct invitation from tournament officials, the PGA Tour, or as part of a high-tier sponsorship package. Amateurs cannot simply purchase a spot to play on Wednesday of tournament week.

SF Anthony Thompson (Official Thread)

Don't know, so will ask. Does/has Thompson already gotten to tOSU, and working out with existing team? Know about football, but not much on the basketball side of things. Would assume/hope that he's playing pickup at least at the Schott against teammates, but who knows. And working out with the trainer(s) to build up to B10 standards. Anyone aware of the process?
Yes, as of yesterday all players currently committed to the program are on campus. They may well add a couple walk-ons, but the guys who they are counting on like AT are there. Summer workouts start next week.

Airport annoyances

Reread this thread. Used to travel for business on the company's dime. Back when most men wore coat and tie. Travel was fun then, now there's nothing at all to like about travel, from the traffic jam getting to the airport, to the disorganized walkers, to the wait lines to get on board, to the overloaded seat bins, to the bags of pretzels (not even peanuts!), to stained seats, toilets that smell worse than outhouses, to the tardiness of getting bags off carousel, to the cost of parking. However, thoroughly beats driving 2,000 miles. But am too poor to afford a private plane, which doesn't serve food by the way.

$4.29 here, how about you?

Just got back from a golf trip to the Bay Area. Traveled up I-5, and saw prices ranging from $6.35 to $6.55 along the way. My Subaru Outback got up and back, along with travel from motel to courses and back, on 3/4 tank. Back to the $4.95 at Costco here. Probably not the place for this, but does anyone fathom how Florida is going to pay for police, fire, sanitation without property taxes?

OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Well, from what I remember from my bball days, a 'putback' entails grabbing a rebound and putting it in the basket. Chalk up one rebound and two points for whomever does this. Both are good looks in my opinion. Blocked shots are a good thing as well, as it prevents two points by the opponent. Also alters shots for the rest of the game, which ultimately lowers FG percentage. All sound like plusses to me....
