What's interesting about the above comment is that indeed, most companies have the in-house expertise to solve the problem. Unfortunately, 'those in power', want an 'expert' to come in, recommend a path, and then exit the relationship. Fewer have the consultant stick around for the implementation (and few consultants want to be around when that happens). Have seen (and have been), the in-house person doing most of the work for the consultant, really giving them the nitty-gritty on the problem. The consultant then writes up the issues, lays out the game plan, and exits to their next gig. And you're absolutely correct, that way management can blame the consultant when the solution goes blooey (technical term). BCG, McKinsey, and a dwindling number of big consulting firms make outrageous sums doing this. Many of these players in the consulting firms do get hired (at VP level or better), to come on board and oversee the implementation of said solutions. Worked at a company (steel mill), where these fuzzy cheeked youngsters were telling the 30 year grizzled veterans 'how to' run their company. Obviously, this rankled the old-timers, and one offhandedly threw out a comment, 'well, we'll see what they say when they get a truckload of steel dropped on them'. Kinda chuckled at the time (I was the company-consultant liaison), but the more I thought about it, the more I believed it. Was hoping for a job offer from consultants, but my Ohio State MBA wasn't the Harvard, Stanford etc level to 'join the club'.

Doesn’t matter how the defense shifts, fakes a stunt, stands or drops down, you hold still.
Now that’s all gone.

You just know that coaches are going to teach their offensive lineman to jump as soon as they see a defensive opponent, shifting and resetting position (stemming).

Oh I know. There are just WAY better lies that could have been told. Not "we knew the play, but that somehow magically doesn't effect our run fits"

That's the equivalent of saying "Having sex doesn't mean I'm not a virgin"

I'd like to propose a punishment for them:

1. Vacate the wins from 2021 to 2023.
2. Instead of post-season bans, *ichigan should have to provide 6 copies of their playbook: 4 to the other team, 1 to the TV crew, and 1 to the referees. These should be provided a minimum of 2 weeks before the game. Since no one supposedly knows who the referee crew will be ahead of time, they go to whoever schedules the referees. When he schedules a certain crew, he gives them the playbook. Next *ichigan will be required to announce their plays a minimum of 30 seconds prior to snapping the ball. Theoretically, the other team will have had enough time in 2 weeks to know the playbook well enough to know what calls to make against *ichigan's plays. I think I'd make it one nerd's job to memorize the playbook and we'd all have a plan on how to stop each play. That nerd would have the chance to sit in the booth with a buzzer to challenge plays he feels didn't match the call. And he gets infinity of these calls, until he gets 3 wrong, or 5 or something... pick a number. My point is that I want to see how many games they can win when the other team knows their plays. They claimed all this time that knowing the plays isn't a thing that matters. So let's let them prove it. Here's what might make them go for this: every win they get in the next 3 years gives them another win from 2021-2023. Which win do they get back? Rank the teams they beat by number of wins they got that season. The first win with these rules gets them the win over the team with the fewest number of wins. The next win gets them a win over the next team, and so on.
I'm guessing that they won't get half of their wins back.
After 3 years of this, stick a pineapple up their asses.

Sayin has had a year in the system, and seen how the engine is supposed to run. I think that's a big deal. I think Sayin views the game more like Day as a pocket QB, so there may not be as much early season growing pains, IMO. I think Sayin is going to get the ball out quick and be pretty sharp.....may be some growing pains at times, but I think we should remember even Will had struggles last year.

Even with his first snap, Will had 2+ years of game starting experience over Sayin'.
You are correct that Justin had a full season to learn the offensive structure, language and time to begin building chemistry with his pass catchers and Oline.

I suppose I correlate the current QB situation to a certain phrase - "knowledge is when information meets experience"

Sayin has a ton of information I'm sure the coaching staff is preparing him to use. But he will not cultivate wisdom without starting experience.

Much like Howard did, I expect some early struggles. Although for different reasons.

How has this been any different than past seasons? The only difference is now we actually know that players are getting paid, as opposed to just hearing rumors. Fan bases with deep pockets have ALWAYS run the show! When was the last time Purdue, Cincinnati, Arkansas, etc competed for a NC? For the past 20yrs, if you were to put money on OSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Bama, UGA, or Clemson, you would have guessed the national champion, how has that changed? You're acting like NIL and the Portal have made different teams contenders.
And heck, ask Eric Dickerson his thoughts on going to SMU as a HS senior, he was set to go to aTm. Hmmmm, what changed and made him go to SMU ? And that was in the 80s!!! If you don't think OSU paid to land the signature of numerous players, than your head is in the sand. The game was always a business, just fans for some reason of college sports enjoyed being lied to for decades and wanted to think that every player that played for their school just loved to go there. Coaches have gotten a pass for, in your words having "lack of standards and control", they also can "leave at the drop of the dime with no consequences", but yet no one complains when Meyer just leaves a coaching job, or Manny Diaz leaves Temple after a few months, Cristobal leaves Oregon, Smart leaves Bama, Kiffin leaves... anywhere he wants, and the list goes on. But hey they're praised and used as examples of mentoring young men. CFB makes billions of dollars a year, the men who are actually playing deserve some of that. I'm sure no adult would tell their boss,"you know what, I just love working here, and I don't want a salary, just pay me my benefits". That's what you're asking these players to do. That thought process makes literally no sense to me, to ask young men who are making colleges and media companies BILLIONS, to make nothing. Just go to class, and you going to school should be enough, and you can't leave when you want(like your coach). SMH
