Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

If we ignore the fact they've played wayyyy above their talent level all year and for the moment, ignore that they don't have an NHL caliber goalie on the roster....

The recent struggles in scoring have really been a product of not possessing the puck enough. If you watch, the other team seemingly always has the puck for extended periods inside the CBJ zone. I would be willing to bet the puck possession metrics took a nosedive somewhere around the end of February and they haven't recovered.

Part of that is due to the lack of a real top 6 defensively (really it's more like 3 good d-men, 2 serviceable ones and a lot of meh) and they also seem to be totally out of gas from the forward side.

Werenski is clearly out of gas as well. He hasn't scored a goal in a month and still has the team lead.

Lots to look forward too since this is a pretty young group but they need more pieces.

Ohio State Men's Lacrosse (2025 B1G Champs)

I don’t know that I’d say that the game felt like a 14-10 game. It was a comfortable win but a lot of fun to watch.

The most impressive thing I’ve seen from this group is how well they are moving the ball on offense. It’s an unselfish team and a lot of guys can put the ball in the back of the net.

On a personal note, Liam White (#22 frosh) is from the club program I coached with here in IL. His older brother is friends with and played on the same team as my son. Anyway, it’s impressive to me that he’s getting some good playing time as a true frosh. Glad he’s a Buckeye. Every time I ran into his brother at a practice I’d get an O-H or similar from him. I knew he was a Buckeye, but I guess at this point, the entire family must be.
With Maryland losing to Rutgers, the Buckeyes should go to #2 in the poll.

2024-2025 College Basketball General Discussion

Not knowing anything about any of the last 4
I watched FL vs Auburn and damn entertaining game...
then I did not watch Houston-Duke
since all the talking heads said 'why bother, Duke by 100'
slap the head
KenPom I think was influencing some of the Duke opinion. Pomeroy had Duke as clearly the best team. To be fair, they had it until the last 8 minutes of the game when Houston started taking it to them.

MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

Rob Manfred praises torpedo bats as 'absolutely good' for MLB

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred says the torpedo bat is "absolutely good for baseball" after it rose to prominence last week following a battery of home runs by the New York Yankees.

"I believe that issues like the torpedo bat and the debate around it demonstrate the fact that baseball still occupies a unique place in our culture," Manfred told The New York Times in a Q&A published Sunday, "because people get into a complete frenzy over something that's really nothing at the end of the day. The bats comply with the rules."

2026 VA OL Darius Gray (Verbal Offer)

Would imagine that the Student Appreciation Day would be pretty eye-opening to an 18 year old. Seeing all those undergrads romping around, and cheering pretty much everything going on, let alone being on the field next to the players. And watching the frosh newbies getting their licks in against semi-live (?)competition. Heard about the QBs, DL, WRs, DBs, but how about the OL young 'uns? Anyone look especially good. Yeah, I know, if the OL gets the headlines, it's probably because something bad happened. But hope springs eternal. Go Bucks!
