K Jayden Fielding (All B1G, National Champion)

Kicking from the 15 out is easier than from the 15 in due to the college hash marks. Didn't Day pass on kicking a FG earlier with a 4th and 1?

Yes and it resulted in a turnover because Sayin couldn’t get the sneak. And we had to sneak on 4th and 1 because instead of running the ball we threw.

Just a an excellent sequence of events

B1G CCG: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana in Indy, Sat. Dec 6th, 8 ET on FOX

A&M in Dallas would be a brutal pull. Have confidence in that match up but still
We beat the team that beat them... but this is exactly my bitch about the stranglehold the Bowl system has maintained on NATIONAL playoffs. Also, a huge tip of the hat to Mendoza, kid got knocked on his ass on play 1, got up off the turf and played one hell of a game. His three passes to Becker(?) were dead on target.

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

Since a certain South Bend based university needs to join a conference, I would still kick the tires of bringing them into the fold. However, the B10 powers can’t be bending the knee for them. They need a conference more than our conference needs them.
I think they will most certainly be part of a new football only organization/league that will be created soon as the CFP expands.

The big boy/premier league if you will.

I'm not on the Miami train. I'm not sure they can hang with A&M. They put up impressive defensive numbers......in the very weak ACC while missing some of it's better teams.
Ironically, it’s ND that is paying the price for their god awful ACC schedule.

At this point I would sacrifice the flow of the game to give each head coach a challenge for questionable penalty calls / no-calls. One challenge per game that's given back if they win the challenge.

The officiating needs to improve. Some of them look like they're well into their 60's. Maybe they are too gassed from running up and down the field the whole game to think straight.

"IU outplayed us, though." Kenyatta preventing those throws, sacking for 8-yard losses and forcing punts instead of chunk plays to convert on third downs would have balanced that as an equalizer.

No doubt. After what I saw last night, Miami's D-Line could be a nightmare.

We are fresh off last night so probably a little too skewed in that direction. They have to have a good secondary to go with that DL.

Not sure they do.

Both TAMU and Miami are (far) weaker against the run than IU.

TAMU's offense shouldn't be able to hurt this defense.

I bowed out early. Think I saved myself a lot of anguish. This has been a Meatchicken game lately, but here we are. Crush everyone from now on and it will be all good.
It was a great football game, played by two excellent teams. It could have gone either way.

Really. Holy $h!t. Alabama got railed hard in the SEC Championship game and yet they didn't even drop a spot. Not only should they have not kept their spot in the rankings, they should've been left out of the playoffs...period.
unfortunately they were never getting left out.... Sankey, ES(e)PN and ABC all probably threatened the CFP with lord knows what if Bama was excluded due to that shitty championship showing

Yes, I don’t disagree with any of this and I still think that when matched up against a better than usual opponent, that is the time to overwhelm and end them early. What’s the point of having better talent if you don’t use it when you need it. Playing the same efficiency game as always lowers your margin for error. Going forward against CFP-level teams, I hope we come out hard and put it out of reach for them early. Then, we can sleeper hold them.

I think that's where you tip the cap to IU. We didn't have as many chunk/explosives inside the framework of "efficiency" as we normally do. Even when we did, the IU secondary tackled better than anyone has al year.

Those are the things that make it look like we "let it loose" and overwhelmed an opponent early. In reality he's playing at the same pace and with the same strategy he has all along.

My biggest indicator of OSU turtling up is did they still try to feed Smith? Given his injury I'd say I was pleasantly surprised at how deliberate they were in getting him the ball.
