$4.29 here, how about you?

I get that the USA is tied to world price of oil. However, since the USA is a net exporter, that economically says we needn't charge world oil prices, which are tremendously affected by the Hormuz situation. So am guessing that the Big Oils here are making landmark profits, as drilling, refining, transporting prices here haven't changed. But, in my experience, prices at the pump go up much faster than they come down.

Airport annoyances

I’ve paid $50K in ‘boob tax’ to travel — my size R chest makes flying economy impossible

She’s booby-trapped in high-cost traveling.

Paying an arm and a leg for flights can be a major pain. But for Summer Robert, a frequent flyer with 55-pound, size R breasts, paying through the nose just to fit comfortably in an airplane seat is a budget-busting injustice, says the siren, who’s spent over $50,000 upgrading from economy to business class accommodations for extra space.

“There is a real physical and financial toll of navigating a world that feels increasingly designed for a one-size-fits-all standard,” Robert, 28, said in a statement, chiding the airline industry for imposing a “boob tax” on her full-figured physique.

Summer Robert says her size R breasts make flying economy uncomfortable, forcing her to pay thousands for roomier airplane seating.

“The biggest struggle is comfort, especially on a long-haul flight,” continued the buxom bombshell, an OnlyFans model from Scotland. “I always end up with the person next to me touching my boobs, and it makes both of us uncomfortable.”

She recently shelled out a whopping $14,686 for a one-way flight from Los Angeles, California, to Melbourne, Australia, paying a premium to make the 16-hour trip in peace, calling the added-on fees a shameless “money grab.”

“The lack of space in economy means I cannot do it,” Robert groaned. “Even something so simple like putting the tray table down to eat my dinner is so difficult; it doesn’t go down all the way.”

“I need to get business, or I won’t be able to eat my dinners on a plane or be touched by another passenger.”

“I burnt my boobs literally two or three weeks ago,” she griped. “I spilled hot, boiling tea on them, and I burnt them completely. My boobs are red, raw, burnt right now.”

Beyond her financial and physical frustrations, Robert claims she’s often objectified by jerks in airports — including gate agents — making jet-setting a triple shot of “hell” for the VIP vixen.

“I want people to know that it isn’t all glitz and glam,” said Robert of her internet-famous orbs. “It’s fun for sure, I love my body so much, but there are definitely downsides.”
To be fair she's using her big cans to make money so I'd say it all evens out

Concussions, CTE, and other traumatic brain injuries in football

Rugby = football contact without a helmet. The major findings of research here are that injuries are widespread across sports and most prominent in rugby. SA is a pioneering actor in promoting changes in sports that reduce traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).

The SA Sports Science Institute is involved actively in promoting research on TBIs in sports and has links to Ohio State. Their founder, Prof Tim Noakes (OSU bio) recently was a keynote speaker at Ohio State on the opening of a sports nutrition symposium. He is a world renowned sports scientist having published more than 750 papers in his career.

There is a private SA initiative, Sports Concussion South Africa but the most active research is being done Stellenbosch University, the University of Cape Town, and the University of Pretoria. If someone on BP is interested in TBI research, I hope the information below may be helpful. These universities (especially UCT) have an excellent international standing in medicine. I used Gemini AI to summarize individual units within the universities:

University of Cape Town (UCT)
UCT bridges the gap between acute neurosurgical care and the psychological/cognitive side of sports injuries. [
  • UCT Neuroscience Institute: Equipped with major philanthropic and South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) grants, the Neuroscience Institute studies acute head trauma mechanics, long-term brain health, and advanced neuroimaging.
  • ACSENT Laboratory: Operating within the Department of Psychology, this lab investigates the cognitive impacts, myths, and medical help-seeking behaviours associated with concussions among high school and university students.

Stellenbosch University (SU)
Stellenbosch University is a primary hub for sports-related head trauma research, heavily integrated with student-athlete tracking and international sports bodies.
  • Institute of Sport and Exercise Medicine (ISEM): Operating as an IOC Research Centre, ISEM frequently publishes epidemiological data tracking high concussion rates among university-level rugby players.
  • Clinical and Cellular Impact Studies: Researchers through the university focus on the cumulative cellular degradation caused by repetitive sub-concussive hits in contact sports.
  • Adolescent Athlete Databases: The university manages the South African Adolescent Athlete Database, evaluating TBI risks and injuries in youth soccer and rugby academies.

University of Pretoria (UP)
UP's focus is highly clinical, translating field injuries into localized sports medicine policies.
  • Section Sports Medicine: Academic clinicians here publish heavily on the implementation and adherence to concussion return-to-play protocols among amateur athletes and schoolboy rugby coaches.
  • Sports Concussion South Africa: Faculty members collaborate directly with this national organization to consult for the South African Rugby Union (SARU) on professional safety metrics.

Texas Tech Red Raiders (sponsored by BET365)

Reports: NCAA rejects Texas Tech's appeal to reinstate Sorsby

Tech's appeal to the NCAA to have quarterback Brendan Sorsby's eligibility reinstated has been denied, according to multiple reports Friday.

Sorsby was ruled ineligible after he acknowledged gambling on sports, including on his own team while at Indiana. The denial of Texas Tech's appeal is separate from Sorsby's lawsuit against the NCAA.

Sorsby transferred to Texas Tech in January after leaving Cincinnati, where he was the starter in 2024 and 2025. He played for the Hoosiers the two seasons before that.

Friday's ruling came while the NCAA and Sorsby were still waiting for a ruling from a Texas judge after the quarterback filed a lawsuit May 18 seeking a temporary injunction against the NCAA in hopes of playing this season for the Red Raiders.

A two-hour hearing was held Monday in the 99th District Court in Lubbock County, where Texas Tech is located. As of Friday, there still was no decision from Judge Ken Curry.

Texas Tech had said May 26 that it was appealing after the NCAA denied the school's initial petition to have Sorsby's eligibility reinstated.

NBA Discussion (Official Thread)

I do not believe these Finals are going as the Illuminati scripted during the offseason.

Knicks up 2-0 going into NY?!?!
Shit...the NBA's ratings have been waning the past couple seasons. This is totally on point for the NBA, they did the same thing with the frozen envelope when they drafted Ewing, except the league got behind Jordan a season or so later.

2027 GA DL David "DJ" Jacobs is a Buckeye!!!

Not to be negative nelly, but any recruit that DOESN'T pay attention to this single history fact: What school puts the most players into the NFL. Specifically, the position which you play. If they don't know the answer to that question, the recruit might not have the smarts to play for the correct team....

On an interview, one can always score points by noting past successes/troubles at the company one is interviewing. Shows you care enough to research out what's what. Heck with the internet tools these days, if you don't research, that's also saying something.

Cincinnati Reds (2026 Season Thread)

Up 3-0 top 1st....now down 10-3

Take a picture of the record at .500 on this date.

They won't be seeing it again this year.

Worst bullpen in the majors torpedoing any night when the mediocre offense actually scores a few runs or the mediocre starters keep them in the game for the first 5 inning or so.

The rest of 2026 =

TN RB David Gabriel Georges (Tennessee Verbal)

Like that this kid is taking his time. Certainly would hope he commits to tOSU, and believe he will, but certainly needs to satisfy himself, and his parents, that one is the best place than the others for his next 3-4 years. tOSU has put a bunch of running backs into the league, but so have other schools. Are there any interviews from him after his visit? Would bet he'll say the right things, and not denigrate any of the other schools he's going to visit.

2027 OH DL Reinaldo Perez (Indiana Verbal)

Would think that tOSU recruiter would play up the training/teaching that LJsr would do, but also point out the depth in front of them. That depth is something that the 'lesser lights' would use against the Buckeyes. Heck, if one can get more NIL $, and more PT, then sounds like a win-win for the recruit. The pro scouts seem to find talent anywhere it resides, so that is another consideration.

The Memorial (Jack's Tourney)

Guess you gotta have the gold to make the rules. Or be part of things. Guess will look into buying a day pass next year. Knew a couple of people that were members, but at my age, they'll either have gone away, or don't care anymore. Same at Scioto. In grad school ('76), was told that people were leaving Muirfield as the course was 'too hard' to play/enjoy. Certainly from the tips would imagine, but probably from the more forward tees as well. And, to put all my cards on the table, my game isn't as strong as once was. Try to play whichever tees top out around 6,000 yards. Anyway, have attended several pro events in Northern California, so am looking forward to walking Jack's course. PS, on another note, can anyone tell me about the CC of Dublin? Looks to be right across the street from Muirfield. Thanks in advance.

What kind of car do you drive?

Old school, and use my Armor All. Or use the Tire Black on the molding as well. Basically the spray and forget stuff. I've always managed to get paste wax on the luggage rack stuff, and it gets white, and never comes off. Use the Armor All, white goes away, but when the AA dries the white stuff is back again. And yes, have used a stiff plastic brush on it when wet as well. If you've got a better solution, am all ears.
