2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Much as I want to see Michigan castrated, it leaves the Big Ten with 1.5 programs with a shot at a Natty. Maybe USC will recover. TV isn’t going to be excited by conference race between the Bucks and a neutered Michigan.

How many times has Michigan realistically had a shot at the natty in the last 30 years? Their national significance when it comes to being a big time national winner isn't that great in modern times. scUM is much more likely to go 8-4 or worse than actually contend for a national title.

2026 GA DE Xavier Griffin (Alabama Commit, USC Decommit)

Five-star Ohio State football recruiting target sets a commitment date

Xavier Griffin, a five-star linebacker recruit from Gainesville, Georgia, has set his commitment date for June 29th. Griffin is one of the prospects who will be on campus this weekend, so the Buckeyes are hoping that they can make a good impression on him.

Griffin is rated as the second-best linebacker in the country. He stands at 6'3 and 200 pounds and is very fast for a linebacker. He's someone who does an excellent job of stopping the run and rushing the passer. Quite frankly, he's a unique blend of skills that the Buckeyes would love to have.

Other than Ohio State, Griffin also has Florida State, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia in his final list of schools. While the Buckeyes are not projected to land Griffin, they still have a shot with him based on how his visit goes this weekend. They have a good closing rate once they get recruits in the building.

QB1 Will Howard (National Champion, Pittsburgh Steelers)

Will calls it the best decision he ever made

I can see why

1) He experienced being the starting qb on a national championship run
2) He experienced the championship culture at Ohio state and made lifelong friends
3) He learned from great football minds before going to the league
4) He had the opportunity to apply that learning against good FBS defenses before things ramped up to NFL speed

What he gained here wasn’t just his development, but even if that were all he gained; it’s given him a much greater probability of a successful NFL career. Even if it hurt his draft stock, it was worth it career wise. (And you have to believe that NFL teams are complete idiots to think that they value a QB less after he’s spent a year with Day and Kelly)

Tiger Woods (Official Thread)

Charlie Woods cards 6-under 66 to win first career AJGA title

Charlie Woods: Tiger's son wins first American Junior Golf Association event - BBC Sport

Tiger Woods needs to make room on his trophy shelf for son Charlie's hardware.

The 16-year-old son of the 15-time major winner shot a 6-under 66 in the final round to win the American Junior Golf Association's Team TaylorMade Invitational at the Streamsong Resort Black Course on Wednesday.

Woods bested a 71-player field that included four of the top-five-ranked AJGA players for his first AJGA title in five events. His previous best AJGA finish was a tie for 25th at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March. Woods entered this week's event ranked 606th in the latest AJGA rankings.

Woods, whose final round featured eight birdies and two bogeys, finished with a three-round score of 15-under 201. He closed with four straight pars to win the event by three strokes over fifth-ranked Luke Colton, Willie Gordon and Phillip Dunham.

SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

When we lost to Iowa and Purdue, we weren't allowed to hide those terrible losses with a good overall record. Those losses eliminated us before the clock hit 00:00 in the 4th quarter. And probably rightfully so. They can get all the way fucked with this argument.
I believe that losing to Iowa was Ohio State's second loss that year. 2017? So that wasn't all that was factored into keeping Ohio State out that year.
But 2018, Purdue was Ohio State's only loss.

Wow

Thanks for going to all that effort

I may have lost the plot here… did you give them a point for losing to Tennessee?
Yeah. What was I thinking? I don't know. The probably shouldn't have been a thing. But Tennessee was legitimately a playoff team, so they shouldn't lose a point for losing to Tennessee. But yeah, they shouldn't GET a point, either.

Was Alabama's schedule the toughest in the country, by any ranking? Was their schedule the toughest in the SEC? According to this website https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi/_/view/resume they were neither. They were 17th in the country (7th in SEC) in strength of record (whatever the shit that means), and 20th (11th in SEC) in strength of schedule. That probably includes playoffs, because Ohio State was #1 and #2 in the country, and I didn't think they had that impressive of a schedule, going into the playoffs.

Cincinnati Reds (2025 is our year! Haha thats actually funny)

Mclain to this point looks like a AAAA player
Sad but true. And I really like McClain too and still think he has upside. He had a blunder in the field yesterday leading to the Royals' first run (because the ball slowly tipped off his glove into the outfield) on a grounder that would have been an easy double play for most MLB infielders to end the inning. Gets Hunter's pitch count and ERA up.
