Notre Dame (football only discussion)

An Ode To Charlie Partridge: Notre Dame football just made history while also defying preconceived expectations

Notre Dame football is recruiting the defensive line at a historic level. A lot of credit goes to new DL coach Charlie Partridge.

Notre Dame football defensive line recruiting for the 2027 class is officially complete.

With the commitment of 2027 Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice four-star defensive tackle Brayden Parks on Thursday, the Fighting Irish wrapped up what might be the program’s best defensive line haul in over three decades. The class is the first assembled under new defensive line coach Charlie Partridge, and it represents a massive statement about where head coach Marcus Freeman’s program is headed.

For a long time, Notre Dame fans were programmed to believe the Irish couldn’t realistically compete for five-star defensive linemen. This class shatters that notion entirely.

The group features five-star edge rusher Abraham Sesay, elite five-star defensive tackle David Folorunsho, Jackson Vaughn (a potential five-star in the 2028 class before reclassifying), top-100 defensive end Aidan O’Neal, top-150 defensive tackle Parks, and four-star reclassified defensive lineman Segun Alexander.

That is a staggering collection of talent along the defensive front.

Just sayin': Notre Dame may have hit a "home run" in hiring Charlie partridge as DL coach this year.

Does Notre Dame have the best defensive line class of the 2027 cycle?

QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

I've never cared how a guy's talents translate to the NFL. If they do well there, great, if not, bummer.

The kid can lead the Buckeyes to a NC so that is all I give a shit about.
Just sayin': Keep in mind, it gives Ohio State a big recruiting advantage when their players are successful in the NFL.

Blue Jackets sign Cole Sillinger to three-year contract

The forward set single-season career highs in assists, points (tied), plus/minus rating and games played in 2025-26

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Cole Sillinger to a three-year, $13.875 million contract ($4.625 million AAV) through the 2028-29 season, club President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell announced today.

“Cole is a hard-working, reliable two-way forward who plays the game the right way, has outstanding character and continues to grow and improve,” said Waddell. “He has played a lot of games in this league at a very young age, and we are excited about his future and his contributions to our organization.”

If Sayin can keep getting physically bigger, I still think he's one of the closest versions of Drew Brees I've seen.

One of the things that impresses me most is he doesn't make the same mistake twice, which for a young QB is hard to do (and something guys like Arch and Dante Moore still haven't done). He's going to be a high first rounder because of his elite decision making and accuracy...come draft time the only thing they'll have to hang their hat on (the haters, that is) will be his size.
