Yahoo, Tattoos, and tOSU (1-year bowl ban, 82 scholly limit for 3 years)

I think the idea that we'd self impose a post-season ban at this point in a disapointing season is disingenuous, transparent and completely futile.
But when it comes to the NCAA...isn't the punishment in a bowl ban about punishing the athletic department, the players/coaches involved, and the school, not the fans and current players?

What better way to do it then get the bowl ban this year? The entities that are targeted to be punished by the NCAA would be affected more this year in my opinion. It would hurt the seniors who got us in this mess. They are the ones who deserve the punishment, not those who will be on the team next year. Also it ensures that members of the coaching staff that have been around while these violations occured are punished as well. And on top of everything, it would hurt those players and the fans less then in the future, because they would be able to get on with the rest of their college football life, and not have to hear anymore about what other people did wrong.

If a ban comes next year, then it likely hurts a new coaching staff that had nothing to do with the situation. It doesn't affect most of the players that committed violations. And it hurts fans and players who are innocent by dragging this out further.

Punish those who did wrong. For a bowl ban to do that, it has to come this year.

As a fan, I have not advocated this until it became clear that we were not going to go to the Big Ten CG, but that is because I am selfish. And you all should be selfish to. As fans we don't deserve the punishment..so let's hope that those who do deserve it, get it, and not those who don't.

If the Compliance Dept were smart they would self-inflict a bowl ban RIGHT NOW. We aren't getting in the CCG now, so get it over with.

No, we don't self-impose anything else. If the NCAA decides to pile on (which has been their past M.O.), then they can slap us with a one-year bowl ban instead of adding one to one we give ourselves. If they give us a one-year bowl ban on/before Dec 10, we'll use it for whatever bowl we would go to this year and be free-and-clear for next year...

Is it for certain that Ohio State will be given a bowl ban? Gene has done pretty well when it comes to self punishment and if he did indeed expect a bowl ban in the future then wouldn't he have self imposed one?

I understand why those feel a bowl-ban this year doesn't get the point across as we're not BCS bound (still possible I guess) - but - I would think if a bowl ban is coming, you punish those who broke the rules (Posey, Adams, Herron) before they leave as opposed to the team next year.

I don't think we get a Bowl ban.
I think we get more scholies taken away.
If the NCAA really wanted to jerk us off they'd hit us with a Bowl ban the Friday before the Michigan game. I haven't seen that from them in other cases.

I've got to imagine that, in this instance, Delany might be riding the NCAA to get a sentence handed down the end of scUM week so they can know who they can honestly send to the CCG. How in the world would that go if tOSU manages to squeak into the CCG and then, the day before the NCAA hands down a post-season ban? Delany has to be involved at this point just for the good of the whole conference in this situation.

I suspect the NCAA will give a penalty higher than what we have self imposed. I suspect our higher ups know that, and made sure the NCAA did something more, just to save their face (by not accepting the self imposed penalties). Whether that includes a bowl ban, I don't know.
