Get the NCAA on a conference call right after The Game and make a fucking decision on sanctions.

For those who might have missed it, a letter that was sent to the NCAA on November 3rd asked the NCAA to do just that the week of November 28th.

I am a little confused though...didn't Boise get a failure to monitor against them and then only get scholorship reductions also I read somewhere that the NCAA has never sanctioned a a bowl ban for failure to monitor...the guy went on to say that USC had a bowl ban because they didnt cooperate. Now I could be way off here, but it kind of makes you think. However, if we do get a bowl ban just make it this year so we can all just move on and not punish the other kids coming in that did nothing:oh:.

I think it has to do with the Bobby D situation being a separate but serious issue altogether. OSU is basically facing multiple transgressions....on top of a couple transgressions from the mid-point of the last decade (Men's BB and Men's FB)

FWIW, apparently Boise State had the dreaded "lack of institutional control" and still didn't get a bowl ban.

Boise State gets three years' probation

The Boise State football program will be docked nine scholarships over a three-year period, and the athletic department must serve three years' probation as a result of widespread rules violations, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Boise State had already self-imposed the probationary period in the wake of violations involving more than 75 prospects and student-athletes across five different sports. The NCAA added six scholarship reductions in football to the three the school had already taken away and cited the school for "lack of institutional control."
Boise State will now have its football scholarships reduced from 85 to 82 for the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years.
In addition, Boise State also will have only nine contact practices in the spring, instead of 12, for three years. The NCAA upheld the self-imposed penalty of three fewer practices during preseason camp in 2012.

So there is hope that a bowl ban will not happen...the only way we would get one for next year in my opinion is if the NCAA wants to make an example, but that might be hard considering the kind of money the bowls make from tOSU fan base. I think that they might take that in count since times are tough and money speaks, but I am not at all extremely knowledgeable on this situation so take it FWIW...and please anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Officially no one will admit it; however, money (i.e. TV ratings, etc.) is why the NCAA suspensions of the "Tattoo 5" didn't start until this season (i.e. were eligible to play in the Sugar Bowl vs Arkansas).

Bobby,

While I loved your qb play in 95 your negativity is unwarranted....They could win the whole thing or not we have no way to gage it...Ohio State won the national championship after a 7-5 season and to be honest with Simon and Williams and Braxton and Shazier Ohio State will be a force in the B1G next year

And Hankins and Hyde and Smith and Spencer and Stoneburner!

The NCAA needs to impose something. I think they need to be seen doing something to Ohio State to send some kind of message (warranted or not). Be it further scholarship reductions or whatever. I think the most frustrating thing is the time it takes to reach a decision. Not sure what else they have to do, but you would think that ruling on one of the major college sports programs in the nation would be a priority. I don't know that I've seen a program suffer as much (on the field) as this one as a result of an NCAA investigation. USC didn't really miss a beat (yet). I mean, they are not the force that they were a couple of years ago, but they aren't an easy out by any stretch of the imagination. They even stuck it to the NCAA with their oversigning last year didn't they? They took advantage of some loophole in the system?

The NCAA needs to fish or cut bait here in the next couple of weeks in order to be fair to Ohio State.

Sorry to all who feel the NCAA is mucking us around, but the best way to keep NCAA foot dragging from impacting your plans is to keep your program in good order.

Nobody's program is in sufficient order that the NCAA could not find multiple violations of the nature of those found at Ohio State. Or worse. I should think the recent revelations regarding Penn State should have demonstrated that pretty conclusively - you know, "one of two D1 programs never to have violated" (blah blah spin spin lie lie).

I hate the truck drivers as much as anyone, but I think they escaped a bowl ban because the most egregious violations were in programs other than football. The football violations were fairly minor but part of a larger, systemic problem in the ad.

Moe Green has a better chance of firing Fredo than we do of avoiding a bowl ban.

Didn't most of Boise's transgressions come in other sports though? Hard to give the football team a bowl ban over professionals coming in to play on their tennis team. I personally don't see a bowl ban for osu, but probably some more scholarship losses. All in all, you get Urban Meyer, had to suffer through one mediocre season out of a decade. I'd say you win in the end.
