tOSU's letter of November 10th asked that the conference call be conducted "during the week of November 28 and render a final decision on this case as soon thereafter as possible."

If anybody has information that was relevant, it will be posted here.

He spoke in direct terms about the basis for the penalties they have already self-imposed. Having been a part of one of those processes before, I think Smith has good reason for being confident about no bowl ban being imposed.

Urban mentioned that he spoke to folks outside of Ohio State (and inside) to get a gauge and wasnt worried so I am not

The only thing that scares me about anything Gene Smith says is last December he said it was a single issue and everything seemed to keep coming in future months.

I just keep hoping for a good end to all this.

Last December it was a single issue. Wasn't like they knew of everything at that time and spread the news out equally over the next few months.

Ohio State should know decision soon

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State and new coach Urban Meyer could know in the next two weeks what NCAA sanctions the football team will face.

The school went before the NCAA committee on infractions Aug. 12 for the tattoo-for-memorabilia scandal and received another notice of allegations from the NCAA on Nov. 3. Those accusations involved a Cleveland-area booster who allegedly provided extra benefits to players.

The NCAA said in the second letter that Ohio State would have to appear before the infractions committee again in early December, while school officials requested that they have the charges reviewed during a teleconference this week.

Athletic director Gene Smith told ESPN.com that the NCAA recently informed Ohio State that it wouldn't need to go back in front of the committee by phone or in person after all.

Wouldn't that be great? Frankly, I just don't see our infractions warranting punishment beyond what we have received. The only reason I figured we would get a bowl ban/additional scholarships is so that the NCAA could look like they did something. The whole world is going to hate us now with Meyer (if they didn't already) and we might as well have the NCAA accept our self-imposed punishment so they can hate us even more. Bright side of finding out soon though is maybe we can take the bowl ban this year if we do get one?
