Now with no chance at BTCG, I think it would be prudent to just self impose a 1 year bowl ban for this year. Then hopefully we can get past this, and recruiting and other business can go on as it should. After what happened today, a bowl ban next year would really just ruin the lives of many players who were never involved for multiple years, plus will be so destructive to the program as a whole.

We can not afford a bowl ban next year...self impose it this year!

Fuck right that is. I was pissed when Miami did it this year after seeing what their bowl prospects looked like, but what's good for the Ibis...

There's a man with a gun over there. Telling me I've got to beware.

"Should've been gone long time ago" is very similar to a line from the song "Ohio" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young. The ensuing posts are all lyrics from that song. :tongue2:

EDIT - Damn you, Neil Young! Pick a band and stick with them! :pissed:

EDIT2 - only one ensuing post was from that song. I'm an idiot and started adding lyrics from "For What Its Worth" by Buffalo Springfield. I fail at life. :shake:

EDIT3 - Seriously, I suck.

Thanks for the clarification.

That was a clarification?

I don't think the punishment is coming down prior to the end of the season or even before LOI day. That's part of the NCAA's punishment, as another poster accurately, IMO, described it--the NCAA screws OSU over even more by levying the punishment late, leaving uncertainty as long as possible for potential coaches and potential recruits.

I'd make the NCAA watch each and every minute of all the Ohio State games this season. Punishment has been handed down and we should get off for time already served.

My modest proposal is the following: forfeit the game against Penn State in the name of self-imposed sanctions, prepare for tsun for two straight weeks and kick their ass, self impose a post season ban this season.

Kicking Michigan's ass is the only thing left that I care about at this point, so why the hell not.

Would the penalties be worse if the NCAA complies with Ohio State's request to handle the sanctions or otherwise in a conference call (I think it was Nov. 27 or 28) rather than the Dec. 10 meeting?

Or would the NCAA get mad and hand out stiffer penalties b/c it doesn't like being dictated to (if it agrees to do the conference call)?

They way we are getting screwed over I'm not sure it isn't:

"NCAA Investagation of Ohio State football sponsored by ESPN".

Advocates of this theory may want to wait to make sure that Wiscy wins at Illinois, because if Wiscy gets Zooked this week, tOSU's chances of making the CCG actually become pretty good again - it would just take winning both games and having Wiscy beat PSU in Madison. Then tOSU and a couple of other teams are at 5-3, and tOSU wins all of the scenarios with tiebreakers involving 5-3 teams, including a 4-way tie with Purdue.

Do we really want any part of the Rose Bowl this year? I hate so say this but Oregon and Stanford scare the bejeezus out of me right now with the way the team is playing.

Not a discussion for this thread.

We need to keep this on topic: potential penalties and war protest song lyrics.
