Maybe you better hold off a bit before letting loose with both barrels. It seems to me like there is plenty of room for differing interpretations here, and by all accounts Doug Archie is a very conscientious and capable guy.

if after both sides make their cases and tressel & co. are found to be guilty of grave violations, then i will want for their heads to be set on stakes. again, rushing to judgment before the accused hasn't officially responded in full is asinine.

Exactly.

Some of the commentary on this thread reminds me of something I heard Mike Ricordati say....

Conclusion of some story unrelated to Ohio State: "I'm not going to speculate because that's not what I do, Torg."

Next story - Ed Rife is going to plead out....

Ricordati: "Money laundering and drug dealing. This is big. This is bad news. He's going to name names .... and it's going to be really bad. What if a certain Ohio State player who may or may not wear number [he named a number, I wont] was involved in these things?"

First - The fucking feds don't give a shit about Ohio State and tattoos. Those facts are completely irrelevant to their case. Second - how do we go from selling trinkets for tattoos to being accused by Ricordati (who doesn't speculate, mind you) of being a drug dealer and money launderer?

hmmmmm

Ricordati (who doesn't speculate) is from Chicago.

ORD (who wishes Ohio State would get the death penalty) is from Chicago.

Ricordati = ORD? :huh:

There is a huge difference between awaiting the outcome of an investigative process and being a homer. If you look, you will see several posters on this site asking for other posters to modulate their criticism of players or coaches from opposing teams until accusations are investigated.

The allegations about Gibson's car didn't turn out to be true. I have no doubt that other allegations will prove equally false. However, I am open to the notion of innocent until proven guilty and that guilt may exist. One doesn't have to be "all-in" to avoid rushing to judgment. We know what Tressel and the Tat 5 admit to, now we await news of any other dirty laundry.

Here's a question some posters may find uncomfortable. Do you really think that Ohio State players have done anything that players at every large university haven't done? Please spare us all the righteous soapbox discussions about "I don't care what others..." It seems clear that the current situation is untenable with the NCAA and that the affairs of Reggie Bush and Cam Newton have convinced many players that the NCAA rules don't deserve respect.

We know how much effort went into burying things at USC and other places. Wonder if a few new scandals wouldn't magically appear if the press started climbing all over South Bend, Ann Arbor, or Gainesville?

Tressel has done a lot of good at Ohio State on and off the field. I am willing to await the results of an investigation.

This is the shit Torg was saying in the radio last week then sportsbybrooks comes out and says SI doesnt even know if they have an article

You have to remember that despite his protestations the contrary, ReTorg isn't anything more than your typical radio idiot.

By the way, if anyone actually believes that some kid in Minnesota grew up liking everything Minnesota but magically likes Ohio State you're kidding yourself.

Both of those idiots are playing to a script and it's very obvious. And unlistenable. Their show would be 10000000x better if they dropped the false pretenses.

Was it Ricordati or Torg who laughably claimed the OSU Minnesota comeback was the start of his fandom ?

Hooley was at least good at his Job, albeit classless and antagonistic. His hosting skills and anger/rating creation were excellent. These two have been the radio version of a scout.com free board.

I explain that to folks all the time....those two are mercenaries waiting to get a gig in a bigger market....

I listened to him say this as well.. can't say I'm surprised he would be so damn stupid.

The other day, he did say something I did agree with..

Paraphrasing:
We knew what Ray Small was. We knew he wasn't great in class, but Tress has to out his arm around these guys and try and save them. Fitting underage girls for an ROTC uniform? No problem, come on in.. I'll save you.

Got to say.. I agree. You recruit these guys/types of players and they fuck you.

Steve, Ohio State has had championship rings and gold pants given to them because they won stuff. This has been used by the players to gain money and tattoos inappropriately. However, what has ND or scUM won in the recent past to break the rules with?

Am I in the "Tresselistas", and if so, do I have to wear a beret or something? I didn't get it yet if there is one.

Steve, lots of respect for you. But I totally disagree with this paragraph. I can't spare you the "I don't care about others" argument. I don't care about others. We are an arrogant fanbase and we should hold ourselves to higher standards than everyone else. Everyone else doing it is no defense for us. I love Ohio State, but I liked college football a lot more when I thought we were running a cleaner program than we apparently are. It's disappointing. I thought we were better than everyone else, on and off the field.
