Does it mean anything that no one has posted in the "I stand with Jim Tressel" thread for over two weeks? Is the writing on the wall?

A question I routinely ask my friends is, "What percent chance do you think JT will survive this mess?"

I generally get a 50-50 response. But that seems almost non-committal. I also think it would be uncool to start a poll on JT's expected future. However, I am curious about what BP'ers think.

Does JT get fired? Will he resign? Does tOSU just accept whatever the NCAA dishes out and stay with JT? Is there another reasonable scenario?

I want to say that I am very confident that he will stay, but I'm afraid ORD will call me a hick and tell me how great the restaurants in Chicago are. :(

Not really.

Honestly at this point, I don't care unless there's something actually new or when the findings/punishment/etc. come out. There's no point in worrying about it or dwelling on it. I honestly still only read this thread to see if anything else has actually happened or not.

I had a "discussion", and I use that term loosely, with a fellow today.

I told him I felt like I was going insane, because everywhere I look there's an increasing amount of incriminating evidence piling onto the program the likes of which apparently nobody has ever seen before judging by the shock and awe involved with the headlines and articles... except for the one little fact that currently we're only looking at a handful of infractions and a few well documented lies.

His response was roughly paraphrased (and more accurately spelled):

"We're talking about 'to the core' corruption here. Nobody since SMU has had these kinds of allegations against them. Matt Hayes is a reputable journalist, so it's inevitable that tOSU is going to be cleaned out from top to bottom. (then there was some unintelligible bullshit about the death penalty being duly deserved), etc..."

From what I'm gathering, this is ACTUALLY what people believe. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so disheartening.

At least when I was saying the same things about Auburn it was more wishful thinking than anything else.

By the way, if anyone actually believes that some kid in Minnesota grew up liking everything Minnesota but magically likes Ohio State you're kidding yourself.

:paranoid:

ummm.... I grew up in Minnesota and like everything Minnesota. I'm not sure it was "magic" but I like Ohio State too... even more than Minnesota...

People really need some goddamned perspective. What SMU was doing was unbelievably worse than any of this stuff at Ohio State.

Hell, what USC got nailed for was also significantly worse than any of the stuff going on at Ohio State, regardless of how many stories the press writes about it. With that said, it seems to me that the absolute, dooms day level, worst case scenario for Ohio State is what happened to USC, and that seems astronomically unlikely, but what do I know?

I have a domer fan that says shit like that....i simply asked him to explain in great detail what Ohio State is in trouble for and he gave me an answer full of conjecture and false info....I was able to show him that facts and he felt silly..........soon as a slush fund comes to the surface with an active payroll paying players i'll concede this is similar.....but then we would have to continue to pay players after the fact in order to be in SMU territory

I trust we've seen the last of the "this is no big deal" posts.

Unfortunately, there was nowhere else to go at this point. What a sad way for Jim Tressel to go out. :(
