yeah.....I replied before I got to page 21 of this thread. for some reason it seems to have gathered a little bit of attention.Again, I don't recall the need for police protection for the OSU alum and fan who turned in Troy. The Dispatch didn't see a need to hide the attorney's name in that situation. IMO it's an excuse that doesn't hold water especially when the identity of the concerned party is already known if the allegations are true.
I don't think anybody has much info. This appears to have come out of nowhere and I suspect the athletic department is being pretty guarded right now, so can't imagine much is getting out...Piney;1884985; said:Would be great if one of the BP insiders calms us down or gets us prepared for more.

Jim Tressel is informed. He passes the information to Compliance. Complaince approaches the players and they lie. Compliance tries to dig further to corroborate the players or refute, and the feds say, "Stop. We're in the middle of our own investigation. You can do your thing when we tell you we're finished."

The number of people who seem willing to assume the worst about Coach Tressel disappoints me. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but we've certainly become a cynical bunch.
about what I'd expect from M&M."Mike and Mike in the Morning" just responded to this story revolving Coach Tressel and the Bucks.
Greenburg read the story as written off of the site verbatim. He was VERY respectful enough to emphasize the word "may" citing that "the source comes from a single undisclosed person." He made this point clearly a couple times over. Goldberg was quite respectful as well.
They also bashed the "selling" rule and both said they hope this story isn't true.
LightningRod;1884970; said:If the allegations are true, the concerned party's identity is already known. Do you believe OSU is not going to disclose this person's name if this person actually exists?
LightningRod;1884845; said:If the story is accurate, then Tressel knows the identity of the "concerned person" because they supposedly had a conversation about the trinket sales. If the concerned person believed he was being stonewalled, why didn't that person or the source use the EthicsPoint Reporting System to involve compliance in conjunction with an outside auditor? And please spare me the "he/she may not have known of this reporting vehicle" because fans from other schools have been using this since it was originally established. Too many loose ends here, but one thing is certain - the facts will come out.

Tressel's history says it doesn't. Yahoo's history says it does.

now hold on for the CowherdVan PeltGottleib versions.
OneBuckeye;1885004; said:I think Yahoo's story is probably right, I think the question is to what extent and the circumstances. Whether or not Tressel aknowledged and reported it to the compliance office or it was some email that ended up in his SPAM folder. It could be a hundred different things. I would hope those things would have come out in december in the NCAAs orginal investigation and the NCAA has already been through this and not found wrong doing. Thus much ado about nothing.
