It gets harder to sell the gray area stuff when they acted like Dec 8 2010 was the first they (as a group) had ever heard of it.

Tressel is the guy who never forgets a name, who's absolute control of every minute detail of the program is legendary. Now we are going to be asked to believe he just forgot someone coming to him about a possible NCAA infraction involving 5 players, one of which was his start QB?
Not to be snarky, but the definition of "knew" comes into play. Does it mean "Was alerted?" "Inquired and was given an answer in the negative?" Told "they were not sure?" Told "Yeah, it was true!?"

I hope the request for phone records is not to establish confirmation of a taped phone conversation. I've done that before.

Well, for FWIW, Bank and Nevada had some fairly reassuring words on the scout pay board. Not info from on high, but they're both pretty clued in and neither of them seem overly concerned at this point.

Again, for FWIW (my IMO).

Thanks... I try to avoid other sites and get all of my info from here

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm quite certain that the tOSU adminstration have reported infracftions in the past to the NCAA. Why in the hell would they not report this considering how big it could be IF Coach Tressel indeed knew about this last April.
that's the question that keeps coming up in my head.

then again......maybe everything in the past has been self-reported because it was about to come out anyways and we just got ahead of the story in time.

I understand that but no matter the definition of "knew" you can't then turn around on Dec 8 and act like that was the first you heard of it.

Dan Patrick (cutie pie) said a few words about this on the radio this morning. Something along the lines of lying is worse than the actual crime. Blah blah blah. Too bad it is a slow news day, we will get hammered all day on the talk shows.

Still find it odd that there has been no word of a reply by tOSU. Is it that they wouldn't dignify this with a response or are they circling the wagons?Seems like they would address this sooner rather than later.

There'll be a response. I cannot imagine they wouldn't address this before JT goes to his next book signing tonight. That might be a mess if he's a a book signing and this hasn't been addressed.

Well you could go the stadiumdorm route and take that as an admission of guilt :roll2:

According to the Dispatch, there's a meeting of the minds (high level staff) going on in the Athletic Department currently. Also, Gene Smith will not be at the NCAA Tournament announcement today, and will return to campus.

Not likely!I refuse to buy into JT knowingly misleading anyone, let alone the ncaa. This smells like witch hunt to me.I am a big fan of making informed statements. Especially in regard to thjings like this. And I expect the higer-ups to quash this junk asap.

Edit: I, myself, rarely make informed statements but expect others to do so!:)

grad has been awfully silent during this. I don't think it takes a leap to realize he's Yahoo's source.

You can't not respond to the allegation. I believe Gene Smith was out of town and he's been called back. So I understand the delay, but OSU/Tressel has to issue a response. If they don't, then I fail to see how you could view it any other way.

As an alumnus and contributor, I expect a response. If one is not issued, I and the rest of the public are free to draw whatever conclusions are appropriate. This isn't a court of law. In the court of public opinion (or in the court of my opinion), there is no right to remain silent.
