Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

It amazes me to read somes opinions of not wanting Meyer...amazes.

Meyer's track record in winning, championships won, lack of any major NCAA violations, understanding of OSU traditions and ties to the state, make him possibly one of the best candidates of all time.

To throw out names of scrubs like Tim Beckman or Mike Stoops over Meyer, is down right foolish.

Urban Meyer is evil, or so this article says so.

With a program that most likely will be on probation, would secondary violations be enough to bring down the wrath of the NCAA?

If the NCAA comes down hard on the program, I'd like to see Luke Fickell given a longer contract until the sanctions are over with. That way, we can ensure that there won't be any debilitating factors in our coaching search. I'd also like to see a new AD because I have little faith in his ability to a coaching search, ala Andy Geiger last time.

This would not be fair to Fickell at all. If they do end up hiring him, which I don't think will happen, I'd hope they'd stick with him after the sanctions since he saw us through these hard times.

You expect Luke Fickell to sign on for multiple years of being a lame duck coach?

There's no way around it - any sanctions that are handed down are going to impact coaching search in the near to intermediate future. That's life. If they choose to replace Fickell, the next coach is either going to want to be at Ohio State in spite of the issues or is going to be the kind of coach that needs to take a career risk to get a job like this.

I don't think whatever sanctions we get are going to be enough to scare off whoever we are looking at for the job.

Edit: On the other hand if shit keeps leaking out like it is every 2 weeks till the end of bowl season then we might have a problem... well, a bigger one.

Also I hope we don't steal some poor schools coach right before their bowl game it's such a douchey thing to do.

Not very Machiavellian of you...

.

The embarrassment this program went through (on and off the field) should be enough punishment. I hope the NCAA committee will think the same.

Though I don't see this happening, if Luke wins out the rest of our remaining games, which would include the Big Ten Championship game and a Bowl game,
I think he returns...

In light of all the crap and opposition, how could you fire a guy who was handed a train wreck and finished the season with 8 straight wins, beating an undefeated Illinois, Wisky and perhaps TSUN team, winning the Conference Championship and a BCS bowl game?

Anythings possible, right? Again, I don't see it happening, but that doesn't mean it won't....

Actually, if we do win out we are not automatic for the Big Ten Championship Game and even if we beat Bucky its hard for me to see where they get another loss for us to tie them in the standings.

But even if we do win out, I think the die has already been cast. If the back channel discussions with Meyer make it look like he will return to coaching next year, LF is toast. After all we are 3-3 right now and it has been an unimpressive 3-3.
