Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

Fitzgerald and Beckman are a couple of strong candidates. No way Meyer gets hired. Not with his track record off the field.

Did his players get in trouble off the field at Utah and BG? That's an honest question because the only off the field trouble I have read about happened at Florida. So could it just be a question of the environment versus Meyer looking for trouble makers and/or dealing with them.

Plus Meyer might have learned something from his time in Florida dealing with off the field stuff that he can change when he takes another job.

This reporter wants to bring in someone who allows criminals to return to the field to coach a program that will be under probation during his watch. Not a good combination. This reporter claims that OSU is a "consistently offending program" Yet he says Meyer, who consistently played arrested players, is "the only one" who can save Ohio State. His logic makes no sense. For some reason I think the reporter wants to see OSU suffer even more.

I really have no respect for any CBS.com sports reporter. Gregg Doyel and Dennis Dodd are at the top of the list.

Think Kentucky basketball. Think USC football. Why would you want to bring that kind of coaching reputation to Ohio State?

I think Al Davis summed it up best "Just Win Baby!" that's all a lot of people care about *coughSECcough*.

Good question and one I do not know the answer to. As an alum I feel like they need to seek someone who has and can continue to run a clean and highly competitive program. The problem is that task is getting tougher all the time. I'm hoping they do not follow the USC model.

Meyer's reputation for 3rd and 4th chances is a lamentable offense, but the "Just win baby" charge against him does not drift into NCAA violations for the man.

He's too dictatorial and too hands on to let that happen. And he scored too many 4 and 5* recruits at UF to not have that information come out.

I wasn't talking about Meyer, I was speaking in a more general sense about the situation

If Meyer was willing to come, you HAVE to take him. The problem is that he might not be ready or willing. But if he is, you take him. He's no rogue despite how you've painted him.

Besides Urban I can't think of many maybe Gary Patterson, maybe Skip Holtz but not to sure about him right now

Jim Tressel came from a smaller program and was able to win at tOSU. I'm not sure why none of them could be options. People love having a "name" coach but look at how some of those hires have gone in recent years at other places.

It's not just the SEC. In an honest moment some here are the same way, especially if they have no ties to the school and disappear from BP between January and August.

Picture Gordon Gee at a press conference where we announce Chris Peterson as our new coach. Don't see it happening, but the media would love it.

Jim Tressel also won big at that smaller program. Four 1-AA championships. What has Skip Holtz done? Gary Patterson has at least won at his smaller program.
