Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

I hope that whoever out next coach is, brings a 3-4 defense. I know we play a 3-4 look with the LEO, but I want the real deal! When I think of the best defenses, a lot of them run a 3-4. Ravens, Steelers, Alabama...

I also think we are built to run the 3-4. This is what we would look like...

DE - John Simon (Garrett Goebel)
NT - Jon Hankins (Joel Hale)
DE - Michael Bennett (Adam Ballamy)
OLB - Nathan Williams if he gets a medical RS (Etienne Sabino)
ILB - Curtis Grant (Jordan Whiting)
ILB - Storm Klein (Scott McVey)
OLB - Ryan Shazier (Steve Miller)
S - Christian Bryant (C.J. Barnett)
S - Dominic Clarke (Orhian Johnson)
CB - Travis Howard (Doran Grant)
CB - Bradley Roby (DerJuan Gambrell)

Re: Ohio State is one of the handful of schools that would seem to entice Meyer -- Ohio-born and Ohio-bred, and a former Buckeyes graduate assistant in the 1980s -- and OSU needs a home run hire. Meyer would be a walk-off grand slam into the light tower, [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54-6yimtjtA"]something straight out of The Natural, [/ame]sending sparks of electricity floating onto the field at Ohio Stadium.
Someday when he walks down the street, people might just look and say, "There goes Urban Meyer, the best there ever was in this game."

Entire article: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...-meyer-is-only-way-osus-gee-smith-can-survive

That was a good movie.

Smith said he couldn't understand why the NCAA would be so tough on a repeat offender like DeVier Posey at a consistently offending football program like Ohio State's.

Meyer is that good, and that belief is coming from someone -- from me, of course -- who has made it a point, over and over and over, to criticize Meyer. Players at Florida were arrested under his watch and allowed to return to the field, repeatedly, and it was embarrassing to me as a Florida alumnus.

This reporter wants to bring in someone who allows criminals to return to the field to coach a program that will be under probation during his watch. Not a good combination. This reporter claims that OSU is a "consistently offending program" Yet he says Meyer, who consistently played arrested players, is "the only one" who can save Ohio State. His logic makes no sense. For some reason I think the reporter wants to see OSU suffer even more.

I really have no respect for any CBS.com sports reporter. Gregg Doyel and Dennis Dodd are at the top of the list.

In a career filled with dipshit articles, that's got to be one of the worst. Do they even have an editor over there? How does crap like that get published, even on the Internet?

Hilariously, the guy takes a dig at Rapp, who's a vastly better writer. Jealous much?

Personally, especially if Meyer is hired, I don't think its that out of the question that Heacock sticks around.

He's a top-notch DC (although a tad bit conservative) and a great DL coach, and he gave Meyer a job 20 years ago when he was the HC at Illinois State so they do have a prior relationship.

Fitzgerald and Beckman are a couple of strong candidates. No way Meyer gets hired. Not with his track record off the field.

I'm in the opposite camp right now. I think that OSU will (or already has) contact Meyer somehow to see if he would be interested in the job. And I think that if Meyer is interested (I think he probably is unless Ohio State gets completely bitch-slapped with sanctions), he will take the job. Just my gut on this.

Most people (including the brain-trust at Ohio State) will hold their noses at Urban's track record of off-the-field issues in the name of keeping the $$$ coming in. Maintaining a high profile in the world of CFB, ranks very highly in the priorities of the powers-that-be.

Also, Urban has done nothing to quell the rumors that would be interested in the job. If a former coach says he is undecided returning to the game, then in most cases he ends up returning to the game. And there might not be a better opportunity to do so than at Ohio State in 2012.

I not ready to predict that Meyer will be the coach next year, but if I had to bet on one guy who I think it might be, then I am going with Urban.

I didn't even get past your first sentence! I don't feel bad for him at all! He in the HEAD COACH! HE should recognize that Bauserman is not the answer to come in behind Braxton. Nebraska pinned their ears back when Bozoman came in the game because they knew he couldn't run, pass, complete a pass, etc...We all know Guiton should have gone in the game! Why can't The HEAD COACH see it! I am disgusted!

I understand your heat, but remember Guiton has two passes on his record. One for 5 yards, and the other was intercepted. If there's a position we have that has absolutely no backup at this moment (I don't know what the story with Graham is), it's QB.
