Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

Exactly. That's exactly what happened.
Just replace all of what you said with something different that actually happened and that is exactly what happened. :susp:

I mean seriously...does anyone think they could've slipped one by Herbie? He's the coach deal killer. Everyone knows that.

Are you trying to say that when JT was suspended, Gee and/or the BoT gave Gene the green light to have a convo on the down low with Bo telling him that instead of firing JT, they suspended him until they could get Bo on board, and a man that played for Woody and is from Ohio said "no thanks"?

Is that what you're telling us? I'm asking. Trying to wrap my head around this.

You'd be completely right, but Bo played for Bruce and Cooper :wink2:

If that happened we need to not stop at the coach and get rid of the BoT and then I should conduct the coaching search.....

First interview goes to Spielmans beard from 89

Do you really think OSU decided to let the ship sink with the captain? Do you really think they haven't had feelers out to half a dozen people for months?

Do you really think your administration has fiddled while your football program burned?

I have no idea what order people were contacted in, who was contacted, who did the contacting, or anything other than what I've told you, which is, an overture was made to Bo, Bo said no, and very shortly thereafter he got a spiffy new contract.

Why is this so difficult to believe?

You can laugh me out of the room when Bo is named your new head coach, I guess.

An overture is different than an offer. I can believe that somebody reached out to Bo Pelini to see if he would have any interest if the job opened up in the not-too-distant future, but that's quite a bit different than him being given an offer. That can just be putting out feelers to see who would be worth putting into a pool of potential candidates, but your earlier post had the phrase "was offered the job", which generated a strong reaction. It's also possible that it was a contact that wasn't authorized by somebody at tOSU, but was just made by somebody that is frequently consulted in coaching searches.

Folks, knappic's been a good poster for a while - being sceptical about what he's posted on this topic doesn't need to evolve into calling him a troll.

I believe, you are repeating what you heard. I do not think anyone was sneaking around behind JT's back. If you no other reason, the person would look like a complete asshole.

OSU hiring a head coach is a process, search committee, maybe interview a few people. I hate to say it, your story is preposterous. If you want to see
kids decommit, under grads transfer, and so on, just fuck Tressell around.

1. The ship ain't sinking.
2. Half a dozen? Hell no.
3. Again, the program isn't "burning".
4. It's difficult to believe that tOSU would offer another coach while the current one is still employed. It's also difficult to believe that an alum would rather coach at Nebraska.

Your acting like you have Newt Rockney and Ohio State is salivating over him....no one is coming after your coach at this point. Im sure Bo got a call from one of his pals and he ran to his agent with it to get a better contract....I guess

Again if this were true I would be really dissapointed with a) how they are conducting a search and b) who they are calling

I think some people are underestimating Bo Pelini in this thread. I think he'd be a pretty good second tier (after Meyer, Stoops, et al) candidate. He's done a damn fine job bringing Nebraska back to relevence after the Bill Callahan debacle, and that's without the resources he'd have at his disposal in Columbus. He took a much more talented Texas team that played for the BCSC to the wire in the B12 title game in 2009 and had the Huskers in National Title discussions before his QB got banged up last year. Add in that he's an alum, has the pedigree, and was a former captain and he seems like a strong candidate to me.

I really doubt Pelini was approached for so many reasons. First, he I do not think OSU is/was prepared to name a permanent head coach. Second, even if they were, Pelini would not be the #1 candidate. Third, the image of OSU taking the Big 10 Newbie's coach 3 months before the season starts (leaving Newbie with who as their coach?) would look really really really bad from an image standpoint.
Heh, our image is already shot. Fuck image.

But why the angst?

Oh, I don't know--it could be that you flat-out stated that OSU offered the job to Pelini and suggested that Pelini turned his back for the greener pastures of Nebraska (), all the while providing not a thread of support for such a claim. As you can see, I find such a claim quite funny, but I could understand others having a different reaction. Could also have something to do with you claiming that the OSU program burned, is a sinking ship, etc. Could also have something to do with your other patronizing comments in this thread.

OSU has a habit of going to BCS games, so pardon us if we don't believe that OSU was turned down by a coach who's never been to one, in order to stay at a program in Nebraska whose last visit to a BCS bowl was when it was curb-stomped about 10 years ago.
