Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

Oh, I don't know--it could be that you flat-out stated that OSU offered the job to Pelini and suggested that Pelini turned his back for the greener pastures of Nebraska (), all the while providing not a thread of support for such a claim. As you can see, I find such a claim quite funny, but I could understand others having a different reaction. Could also have something to do with you claiming that the OSU program burned, is a sinking ship, etc. Could also have something to do with your other patronizing comments in this thread.

OSU has a habit of going to BCS games, so pardon us if we don't believe that OSU was turned down by a coach who's never been to one, in order to stay at a program in Nebraska whose last visit to a BCS bowl was when it was curb-stomped about 10 years ago.

You are correct, and I apologize for saying the job was "offered" to Pelini. I misspoke, and I have rightly been criticized for that. My mistake.

You are also correct to be proud of OSU. You guys have a great school with great tradition, a history of success and winning. But you're not the only school atop the all-time win list, or with multiple national titles and multiple major award winners. You're not the only school with tremendous facilities and deep pockets.

We need Chuck Norris. The NCAA would never fuck with Chuck Norris.

In fact, if he was a college coach, NCAA would stand for the "National Chuck Norris Ass-kicking Association".

Chuck Norris doesn't need to trade memorabilia for tattoos, he just stares at a part of his body while thinking of a picture and the tattoo appears.

The Ozone looks at 20 possibilities.

I'm not ready to turn these into odds yet.

Dan Mullen is also going to be a big-time coach someday soon.

One thing is for sure, he would get "The Game".

Being the poor step child in Mississippi (MissState), he has consistently and persistently tweaked TSUN (OleMiss) to the point that he has completely gotten under their skin. He OWNS Houston Nutt now.

It's been pretty fun to watch.

Serious? If Luke didnt work out I think Chuck Strong and Dan Mullins would be viable candidates that I think would be realistic... I know they arnt as sexy as Urban and Gruden but I see how these coaching searches go down and they usually result in a small splash....Satan to Bama not withstanding

Am I the only person who thinks that any coach for Ohio State should have to have connections to OSU? Either as a player, assistant, or even just being from the state. I think picking an outsider like Mullin, Strong, Gundy, Patterson, or Peterson would be a terrible idea. Remember Cooper?

You're not the only one. Some of the names on that list of potential OSU head coaches are ridiculous.

Cooper was Cooper no matter what his back ground.....just because you wernt a grad assistant at Ohio State for a year doesnt mean you would be Cooper

I don't see any real evidence that Dan Mullen and Mike Gundy are not Coopers, except that Cooper had had more success and a longer track record than them. There are enough top-end coaching candidates with OSU and Ohio backgrounds that we should never have to hire an "outsider" again.

I dont necessarily disagree...Mike Gundy is special...im just saying just because your from the outside doesnt make you incompetent

It does mean that you don't understand the rivalry and the tradition of Ohio State, though. Sure, it can be learned, but I'd much rather have a coach who ''get's it'' from day 1.
